Tools and Hardware Reviews of Danco 88821 2-3/4-Inch Tub Mesh Strainer, Stainless

Customer Review: Effective tub drain strainer with some design flaws
Summary: 4 Stars

Sometimes a product can be too good. The mesh on the Danco tub strainer is so fine that it quickly clogs. In one sense that is great -- it is doing its job properly. But if the mesh were just a tad bitter less fine, we might be able to clean it out once a day instead of after each person taking a shower in the bathtub. We have a standard drain enclosure -- the kind that screws down with fairly large holes. The Danco strainer sits under the enclosure, which is why it is effective, but that also means we cannot screw down the regular enclosure.

Customer Review: Works very nicely!
Summary: 5 Stars

Its nice to have this product and not have to make my own. I have an old home and wanted to take care of my plumbing. So I worried about hair going down among other things. I tried making my own hair traps and they did ok but made my fingers hurt so its nice to have something thats not going to do that. I just bought this and have used it a couple of times and am pleased with how it works and its nice construction. It feels like it will last for a long time. Such a simple thing to give me peace of mind!

Customer Review: Great strainer for the tub
Summary: 5 Stars

My wife has very long and curly hair which wrecks havoc on our tub's drain. We've used different plastic strainers from bed bath and beyond and nothing seemed to work. Those strainers would get clogged and force you to remove them just to allow the tub to properly drain while showering (thus defeating the purpose!). I selected the Danco strainer because it had great reviews on Amazon, and after a few weeks, it's been working great. The strainer catches long hair but still allows proper water drainage.

Customer Review: very effective
Summary: 5 Stars

We have very old pipes that clog easily and are very expensive to clean. The previous drain cover we had was the plastic type that sits on top of the tub stopper, but all that one did was float around the tub as the water level rose during my shower.

This stays put and catches *everything*. Yes, it requires regular cleaning, but that means that all that stuff didn't go down your drain (a tissue or piece of toilet paper each morning after showering is all it needs).

Customer Review: Does what it's supposed to
Summary: 5 Stars

It does what it's supposed to do. It's a simple wire mesh with small holes so it catches even small hairs. I don't find it hard to clean at all, just rub your finger over the mesh and it picks up whatever it caught. My only complaint, and it's a small one, is that it does not screw in, it just sits in the drain, but this is a minor point (and some people may like this because it makes it a bit easier to clean since you can pick it up)
