Customer Review: Better than the traditional

I have used this "strainer" in all of the apartments and homes I have lived in and it always works great. Reduces the amount of food and other items getting into the pipes (not had to call a plumber since having one). I have used it when I have had a disposal and now that I don't have a disposal, I use it in both sides if the sink. It catches everything and I tap it out in the trash can. It also washes very well in the dishwasher so you don't get any build-up on the strainer itself.
The down side is that it can slide around in the sink drain a bit when large amounts of water are poured in the sink.
All that noted, I wouldn't go without it!

Mesh strainers are a marvelous invention and there are several from which to chose. This one simply is not the best. It is by far the flimsiest and most likely to become and remain irretrievably misshapen. The outer solid metal rim is too small and the mesh a bit too fine. Oddly the same manufacturer makes an infinitely more durable model for the same (or close to the same) price. That's the one to go for - forget this one. And should you be determined to order it through Amazon, brace yourself for packaging utterly inappropriate: the strainer will arrive already crushed and deformed. I've never understood why they still make drain baskets with stoppers in them. Does anyone really still fill their sinks with soap water to do the dishes? The plunger always twists around and starts water collecting in the basin - or it fills with debris and clogs.
This screen gets you out of that entire business. You just tap it out against the garbage basket after use once instead of 5 times per cooking session. I find that putting it in the dishwasher periodically restores it to like-new condition.

This device fits in a standard kitchen sink drain. It has the advantage of allowing water to flow out the sides when the bottom is clogged, unlike the traditional sink stopper. You shouldn't let too much fiber get into your septic system as such material will not be digested quickly by the septic bacteria and lead to your sediment tank getting full. Then comes a several hundred dollar pump out. That is why septic systems and garbage disposals are a no-no. This device is a cheap way to keep your drains flowing.Customer Review: Perfect fit!

I have a large, open shower area (handicapped-accessible) in my home that I use to wash dogs almost weekly. Their shedded fur was totally clogging the drain. This strainer is the perfect size and works really well at keeping the fur from going down the drain, though water then gets backed up a bit, but that's not a biggie. It's not made with strong materials and gets bent and a little warped when stepped on (especially by dogs!), but for the price, I'll just buy another.
