I am recovering from minor surgery and not supposed to do any strenuous lifting, so instead of my usual trip to the hardware store to buy ice melt, carry it to my car, drive it home and carry it out of my car to my front porch, I bought the Keep It Green ice melter from Amazon, with free 2-day delivery from Amazon Prime. And I have to say that for me, this is what Amazon Prime was made for. I don't understand how they can afford to do free 2-day delivery on a 40 pound bucket of ice melt, but it is great that they can as it was delivered right to my front doorstep, so all I had to do was open the cardboard box and leave the bucket there. The bucket has a nice tight-fitting lid and seems to be waterproof so there is no problem with leaving it outside.
This ice melter works very well. I always prefer ice melt that has some color to it, so it is more obvious where you have already spread it, and many of the granules in this product are colored greenish, so it is easy to see where it has been sprinkled. We also have a dog so the "pet friendly" label makes me more comfortable with using this product.
One tip I have is that the green lid was hard to remove initially. The trick is to insert a flat head screwdriver gently under the rim and slide it all the way around before you remove the lid for the first time. It is then easier to remove and replace the lid as needed.
