Tools and Hardware Reviews of Dead On Tools DO-300 Killer Chiller Mobile Cooler/Lunch box, BlackCustomer Review: Looks like a bag a Pirate would carry. Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this because of the Pirate motif. When it arrived, I noticed that it is quite saggy. The bottom section will collapse on it's own just sitting there with nothing in it.
When it is sagging like that it is hard to move the bottom zipper because the zipper is folded too much. Another review stated that the zipper is too big. I think this is true. A smaller zipper would not bind as much.
When it is full, it doesn't sag as much because the contents are holding it up. Once you start taking stuff out, it will begin to sag again.
As far as performance, it will keep the contents cold for quite a while. I never put perishable food in the top section. I use the top for stuff like plastic utensils , OTC medicine, gum, trail mix, etc.
I use a 3 x 5 x 1.5 size blue ice block. When I get home it is still partially frozen after 12 hours or so. I do not leave the bag in my car. The place I work is inside and no more than 80 F.
This bag is more than big enough for 2 breaks and a lunch worth of food plus a little more. For many people anyway. I try to limit the calories myself.
I gave it 4 stars because it does keep food cold, and it looks like something a Pirate would carry. It looses one star for sagging.
Customer Review: Sturdy, Roomy, Insulated, ZIPPERS ARE IMPOSSIBLE Summary: 3 Stars
If it were not so hard to get into the bag and to zip it closed, then this bag would surely be rated at 5 stars. Even though it is rather heavy even empty, that is not a deal breaker, because that goes along with a rugged go everywhere, do anything kind of bag. This is my daughter's school lunch bag and her insulated stainless steel Bento Thermos fits in the bottom compartment with room to spare and the top holds her juice, yogurt, napkin and fork, spoon and whatever else she might want to toss in.
I pack her Bento Box and it is her job to get everything into the lunch box, zip it and put it near the door to be ready to grab as we head out. I can depend on groans and scowls and other grunts and outburst of frustration as she tries to close the thing up every morning. Occassionally she gets a good, smooth pull and that is such a simple pleasure for everyone. It is even hard for me when i must stop what i am doing to offer assistance. If I had to do it again, I would probably try to find a different bag, even if i had to sacrifice a bit on size and sturdiness, to get fewer morning headaches.
Customer Review: Save the effort of searching this lunch bag is all that and a bag of chips. Summary: 5 Stars
If you are like me (time depraved)with very little time to do extensive research on a given product. Then you know the best methodology for choosing an amazon.com item is to go with a steady listing of buzz worthy praise and follow your instincts.Well I was not wrong on this one!I can't remember being more pleased with any recent purchase as I am with the Dead On Tools DO-300 Killer. Recently I became diabetic and thus have to not only carry around a assortment of medications but plenty of food and a very necessary snack.I shuttle between two full time jobs so the two large departments are more then adequate for storing all my needs and the various other side compartments come in handy for paperwork, tape cassettes - ....
You get the picture.. Whenever I see my fellow working classing class stiffs carrying large lunch containers they are usually dirtied looking. The Killer Chiller avoids this problem with its sturdy and dare I say hip black exterior.
Customer Review: The "Dead On Killer Chiller" is the best! Summary: 5 Stars
The "Dead On Killer Chiller" is the best! I was looking for something for my husband who is a construction foreman. He packs big lunches, and the lunchbox needed to be able to withstand the dust and harsh conditions of a huge job site. This baby does everything I wanted! He can pack his containers of food in the lower compartment, and keep his utensils, napkins, chips, and more up top in their own compartment. It's super rugged and has held up beautifully under tough conditions. It is bigger and holds more than it first looks upon unpacking. I filled his with air pillow packs used for mailing for a weekend to completely plump it up and settle the lining in, and that worked wonderfully. It now holds its shape on it's own and he gets maximum space useage out of it. I will not only recommend this item, I will be buying another one if and when my husband ever needs another one, although at the rate this one is holding up, that won't be for a loooong time!
Customer Review: Excellent lunch bag! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this lunch bag for my work where I am a desk jockey. So this is not a bag exposed to the elements. Just a nice even temperate 75 degreed office.
The bag is made of some heavy duty nylon and feels like it would hold up well to just about anything. Although it does not show it, this bag has a top and bottom compartment. I believe that the bottom can be used to hold ice packs as well as food. The top is more for fruit and smaller items.
Overall, I've found that this bag holds everything that I bring to work. And I tend to bring lots of tupperware like items to work. If you're bringing a salad, an entree, a bowl, a fork, some fruit and maybe another snack, this holds it just fine.
And if you buy from Amazon and don't like this one, you can return it. Don't buy from Ebags through Amazon as they won't exchange your purchase if you don't like it. I got burned on that one and warn you to watch out.
