Customer Review: solid stand, excellent value
Summary: 5 Stars
Purchased for use with a DeWalt DW713 10" saw, this stand is to me most everything a non-professional user would need. Many professionals, I suspect, would also find it satisfactory if not bulletproof.
1) Initial assembly: When assembled, the unit has a satisfyingly solid feel. The rollers are slightly loose in their mountings before fixing in place with the provided thumbscrews, but for me were level and moved freely. If they were slightly out of level (as others have occasionally noted), I am certain they could be shimmed without difficulty. The supplied mounting brackets fit my saw perfectly without modification and were easily fixed to it with provided hardware (no additional mounting board required).
2) Ease of use: The pushbutton detents for the legs are stable when in position, but can become undone if the stand is moved without being completely lifted from the ground. The mounting brackets (attached to the saw) are very easily attached to the tubular steel rails of the stand and lock securely. The extensions to which the rollers attach are easily repositioned and stable when in place.
3) Durability: I've only used the unit several times a month for 5 months, so this is not something I can comment on with authority. I could imagine that, in heavy use, the plastic feet on the saw mountings might eventually crack with a lot of mountings/removals. No problems for me to date, though.
This unit gets 5 stars from me in light of being a solid piece at a reasonable price. Is it as good as the DeWalt (that costs more than twice as much) or another high end make? Maybe not, but I think it's at a fairly sweet spot for very good quality and excellent price.
