Tools and Hardware Reviews of Designers Edge L-949 10 LED Rechargeable Solar Panel Shed LightCustomer Review: 6 inch L bracket Summary: 5 Stars
Ordered the solar light in December 09, the 6 inch "L' bracket is in the package but with no instructions. If you will look closely at the grey plastic mounting bracket one of the slots has a flat side. Slide the L bracket into the hole with flat side, is it used to "hang" over a 2X4 or other support and tighten with the nut run down on the threads instead of using screws to secure the base. Used the solar light in our camphouse- "Alamo". It had charged for several weeks, to be honest it worked great, we had more than enough light with the 5 led lights on. We turned the light on and off as needed so I cannot attest to the amount of run time we will have overall. I do recommend this product. We used a couple of the battery powered "candles"-they actually flicker- ($5)from Walmart as night lights around the door and outside to see when getting up during the night.
Happy in South Texas
Customer Review: Shed, a Litte Light Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great light for those spaces you need it. I purchased 2, one for the shed and the other for my feed area. Both work equally well, better than I expected. Mounting was a breeze! The long cord allowed the panel to be situated in a premium spot and the light to be where it was needed the most. The two settings are handy. Full allows me to work further away from the source, and half lasts an amazing amount of time.
I must admit, the shed light has yet to make it into the shed. It is used in the "yet to be wired" shop. The solar panel just sits on the windowsill and I strung the light up and over a cabinet for just enough light to move safely around in the large area (move a box, find a screwdriver). My skeptical son even was amazed at how much light it puts out.
Would I buy more? You bet!
Customer Review: Works Great thing of buying more of them Summary: 5 Stars
It really works great. I use it a light our staircase going to the basement. I run line outside and put the solar panel on a pole use U brackets i pick up from lowes. The U bracket are the one with nuts on them. The light is bright. I also use Velco to mount it to the wall so don't wont to put holes in the wall. Ok About the L bracket i email the company the said this. " Thank you for contacting us. The L bracket can be used as a clamp mount if you do not have an area to do a drill mount. If you would like some help understanding how to use that bracket you can contact our Parts and Service Department at 425-637-9601 M-F 8-4:30 Pacific time. " I'm think of buying more of them. Would have been nice if the light had a timer on it.
hope my review helps you and other ways you can use it.
Customer Review: decent product but amazon sucks Summary: 3 Stars
The light is what it is expected to be, a fairly dim light for the shed so you don't run into anything at night. It is not for working by.
Amazon uses independant shipping companies that could care less about speeding down private lanes and spinning tire in your yard. The driver was told to slow down after his anger at having difficulty finding our address, his response was to spin tire and speed down our private dirt lane where ours and our neighbor's kids play and ride their bikes. When we discussed this with Amazon and the shipping company itself, we were basically told to go pound salt. So, the only recourse is to no longer use the Amazon website at all... problem solved.
Customer Review: Decent and convenient Summary: 3 Stars
The light isn't the brightest but it serves its purpose. The package was a little beat up and there was a crack on the light. Since the light works and it was only cosmetic I kept the unit. I have it in my closet since I don't have any lights there. Having an older house I drilled a hole through the wall so I can attach the solar cell(mounted on my window)to the light inside my closet. The only thing that really bugs me is the angled adapter that plugs into the light. This made it difficult for me and I had to make a larger hole than what I expected to get the power cable through. I figure that if I re-build my room I can install this unit in my shed at a later time.
