We heat our house with propane fireplace inserts, one each upstairs and downstairs. However, we wanted additional heaters for our back bedrooms during those near-zero or sub-zero winter days and nights, heaters that would be economical and add visual warmth to those rooms. The Dimplex CS1205 is perfect. What is really interesting is to see the household pets lying in front of these heaters just like they do in front of the fireplaces. And, the fire simulation is remarkable --- could not ask for better. We also purchased the WIN100 thermostats to use with these heaters thanks to the review written by another Dimplex owner. These thermostats are a good match, and they are affordable when purchased through Amazon.Customer Review: Poor electronics parts quality....

This is an OEM/China product being marketed by different outfits under different brand names. Mine had a name of charming glow bought from the store which has depot in its name. Worked for just over a year -just past the warranty. Now the light has gone out which I found to be a set of LEDs in the unit. The transformer supplying power to these LEDs has gone out. Called the 'customer support' number listed on the product. Am told that there are no replacement parts for the product, need to go my local electrician. Luckily the transfomer has a label on it showing that it has an output of 13VAC 650mA, so until I can find a matching replacement transformer, I have an expensive 750/1500 watt heater.Customer Review: Good product.....too pricey!

I have been using these "space heaters" for many years now. Dimplex products were my first choice and have always performed admirably. One of my oldest units ceased to function so I bought a new one over the internet. A week later, I discovered a similar product at my local SAM'S club store for about half price of what I purchased. It remains to be seen how well the new stove works and for how long.
We cannot do without them as they warm a room up so fast. They look so realistic with their flame and the heat is wonderful. Most of the time, we simply turn on the "flame" so that it flickers on the ceiling when we go to bed. I would not be without one under any circumstance.

Having seen some very good electric stoves before buying this (many of which were made by Dimplex), I was a bit disappointed by this model, but not enough to return it. As such, I've kept it, but I no longer use it for a daily ornament. First off, it's obviously fake looking, and the revolving light that creates the "ember" effect is way to mechanical and monotonous in its movement. The heater, while very warm and heats up quickly, is NOISY. Like, annoyingly noisy!
Unless you're not very picky about some kitschy and noisy product sitting in your room, my recommendation is to spend just a little bit more money and get a higher end product. You'll be happy you did. I wish I had.

I love this little heater! It turned out to be much nicer than
I expected. I loved it so much I immediately bought the more expensive
model to place on the other end of my 60-ft mobile home which has an
add-on room at one end. This one heats up the add-on room very quickly
and brings the overall temp up 2 degrees within minutes reducing the need
to use my fuel-oil heater. This smaller unit has 2 heat settings and standing about 2 feet in front of the heater, you can feel the warmth
much more than standing closer to it. For a small space, this is a great
heater and the flames are so realistic you will feel warmer just with the ambience it creates!
