This is a replacement for a five-year-old unit (another brand) that gave out after a lot of use. The "flames" are not as realistic as the one I had, which actually looked like gas logs, but are certainly acceptable, considering the price. It really kicks out the heat. Makes my 12'x15' basement family room mighty toasty. After some thought, two things I would do differently: I would add a thermostat and opt for a remote control, since I am in a wheelchair and the switches are at the bottom of the unit. A surprise bonus involving shipping -- I chose standard shipping, expecting delivery in 3-to-5 business days. It arrived the next day!

I bought this on sale for $116 with free shipping from Amazon, now it's $130. I replaced the 60 watt bulb with a night light LED replacement, it's current "barely there" flame reminds me of my coal fireplace in England. I also have a 4 watt and a 7 watt night light replacement so I can vary the "flame effect" to my mood. As for heating, it has no comparison. I have a 500 sq ft area to heat- it was 20 degrees and windy outside and 74 degrees inside. Truly worth the money. A definate good buy. And it's lightweight so I can move it from room to room with virtually no effort. My cats absolutely love lying on their rug in the warm air flow.Customer Review: Cute little heater

I bought this little heater for a new sunroom addition we added to our house to use when it is really cold. It does a great job & looks good too. It is lighweight enough that I have also moved it around to heat other parts of the house when they are cold. It wouldn't be good as your only heat, but for the size & the money it does a great job. It does not get hot on top or the sides, which I like because I have 8 cats. There is a cheaper model without the fan, but I would not recommend it. The fan makes a big difference, although it dosen't blow out that much heat..but some. Delivered quickly & ready to plug in.Customer Review: Happy with Electric Stove.

The Dimplex CS1205 Compact Electric Stove works great, it can heat my whole apartment, and I bought it for my son's room.
The problem I had, I ordered 1, never received my comfirmation and was charged and sent 3. I was informed to return 2 and I would get my money back. It cost them 53.77 to ship 3 to me but cost me 73.00 to return 2. I was then told that in order to get my money back i would have to purchase something from Amazon not a 3rd party and they would take the money from that, but I would have to pay shipping and handling.

Summary: 4 Stars I agree with all on the look of heater. It's cute and welcoming. The heater just doesn't have any kind of circulation for the heat, so it doesn't seem very effective to me. I use it in combination with another heater, and they seem to get the job done. My room is larger than they recommend for this size heater. I use an air filter in front of it that blows the air, it works much better this way, though not as attractive.
If left on all day, it definitely will keep the chill away. I'm in Southern California, so the cold isn't quite freezing, and generally, days are warmer.
