Customer Review: Pretty & realistic looking, but doesn't put out enough heat

The flame is realistic looking, especially at night. In the daytime it is subtle. Visitors always have to inspect to see if the flames are real. Also, even when off the foiling looks like glowing embers (and I would usually be wary of this for fear of the phoney look, but it really looks very real unless your eyes are 2 inches away!) I love it, as it adds a coziness to my living room. But, for use as a heater, it does not heat up the space--only warm if you sit directly in front of it. If the heater worked well I would give it 5 stars.Customer Review: great little heater and and very attractive

I bought this heater to warm up my home office which is located in the basement and I have been very pleased with it. I wanted something more attractive than the typical space heater that would still do the job. I am very pleased with this product. On low setting it warms the room nicely. It is obviously not a real fireplace, of course. I like that the glow from the fire allows me to tell by looking if it is on which helps me remember to turn it off at the end of the work day. It makes a very low quiet humming sound when on.

We received this item as a gift from our son for the holidays. Has worked decently for the past month, keeping the living room warm, but as noted with another customer, the electral cord just started to melt and has done damage to the electrical wall outlet. The cord was always a little warm when we unplugged it, but we just thought that was normal. Now that it has actually scortched the outlet and the plug itself has melted, I'm not planning on using it again.
A little extra comfort is not worth burning the house down for.

My brother and his wife have one of these in their finished basement. When they got another tv and had no tv stand to put it on, she moved an old desk over to the wall and put the tv on top of the desk, then just for fun she put this heater under the desk where you would sit and put your legs. It's a very fun look, and it was just a fluke that the heater fits under there perfectly. I wouldn't recommend leaving the heater unattended but its fun for parties,etc The heater works very well and they have had it for several years.Customer Review: Cute but weak

I have to say I bought the little heater primarily for its decorative value. I have it in a vacation cabin I rent out in North Georgia. One of the bedrooms is in the basement, and it stays chilly year round even though the climate in the area is generally mild. It works well enough in the tiny, windowless room, 10X10, but I can see that it would be useless in a large drafty room. The warm air flowing out from underneath is more like somebody's warm breath. I will say that it is cute as a button and the "fire" is cheery.
