Customer Review: Works well for intended purpose

This unit is NOT intended to be used outside. If used in an outdoor setting as mentioned in another review, it will suffer the same fate as any other electronic device not designed to be exposed to the elements. It is also not a replacement for a home security system. This device was designed to warn a homeowner of a door or window being opened or tampered with, and perhaps give him/her time to call 911 or get away.
The alarm is loud enough to be heard one or two rooms away and probably loud enough to give any would-be intruder second thoughts about entering a home. The vibration detection seems to work pretty well, but isn't overly sensitive. A light tap on a window isn't going to set this thing off and it seems to take a pretty solid thump to get the alarm to sound. I actually think it is tuned just about right as far as sensitivity goes as it will definitely detect someone trying to break the window but won't constantly be going off every time a truck drives by.
The magnetic contact is a plus, as it can be used to detect glass breakage or a sliding window being opened normally. I have mine positioned so that I can leave my window cracked open for ventilation but get a warning if the window is moved. I have had these up for a couple of months now and so far every alarm I have purchased is functioning well with no problems.

The Doberman magnetic Window/Door Alarm is a sleekly designed unit enabling it to function with many sliding glass windows and doors. The magnetic Window/Door Alarm is triggered by both window vibration and entry opening. Place the included magnet on the outside frame of any window or door you wish to protect. When opened by an intruder, the magnetic circuit is broken and a loud alarm will sound. The alarm unit will also sound when window vibration is detected. Printed on the reverse side of this product is a red warning label that can be seen outside through the window.
