Tools and Hardware Reviews of Dorcy 41-2098 115 Lumen LED Headlight with 3 AAA BatteriesCustomer Review: you get exactly what you've paid for..... Summary: 3 Stars
I got this lamp a couple of weeks ago....I'm an industrial painter, wich for some of you who don't know the core of our job is basically working under veeery rough environments....we sand blast a lot...so for me to have a very reliable flashlight or headlamp it's not really an option...ITS A MOST! ....so, I did my homework, found this light...cheap....and it works really good...compared to my coleman 90 lumen flashlight, I think the coleman suprasess it ..but not by much, Im no expert or anything..the light works really good, and if it breaks, hell...JUST GET ANOTHER ONE!! THEY'RE HELLA CHEAP !LOL ... I am currently looking at the Dorcy 220 lumens rechargable flashlight...after a really intense research, I believe I've found the right light, and you won't have to worry about them expensive bateries..but still, this light would be perfect for somebody who doesn't have it as rough as we do, hope the review was helpful to at least one person..jeje..
Customer Review: doesn't last Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this light because it is fairly in expensive and seemed like a good deal. When I got it I was very happy with it; it was very bright and I thought I got a great deal. however, when I went on a caving trip I was less than pleased. after a few hours I discovered that it was getting dim; I had figured it needed new batteries, but when I put them in it had gotten no brighter. the light continues to get progressively, yet significantly, dimmer as I use it, which is rare for a an LED light.
in conclusion I think this is a good deal for someone who does a little camping every now and then, but if you want a really good light, put out just a little extra cash and get a good light. I would recommended petzl, coast, or black diamond.
p.s. it claims 145 lumens but compared to my friend's coast flashlight that claims 97 it is really dim.
Customer Review: Very bright! No problem for big heads. Summary: 5 Stars
I've been looking for a while for a really bright headlamp, and when this one arrived yesterday, I knew I'd found it. MUCH brighter than my other headlamps, even my Coleman rated at 108 lumens. The Dorcy outshines them even on its 50% setting. On 100%, it reaches way out there and lights up the night! I can illumiate most objects nicely out to about thirty yards. Road signs are easy out to longer ranges, of course, but they are highly reflective. It's just as compact and lightweight as my other lamps, and the price is right too.
One of the other reviewers complained that the band was too small for his head. I almost didn't buy for that reason. I usually wear a hat in the 7-1/2 to 7-5/8 range, so I was worried. This Dorcy has more than enough adjustment range to fit me.
Customer Review: Great headlamp for the price Summary: 5 Stars
I have had this headlamp for about 6 months. I haven't abused it much, haven't had it in the rain or drop-kicked it like most of the things I own. That will happen eventually. It has very good life for how much light it puts out. It is incredibly bright. The action of the switch on the side is pretty good. It says "aluminum" but the body definitely feels like plastic. Not sure how long it will last, but it feels solid enough. The headband is fairly comfortable for most uses, but it is a little bit small. I have a large head and I have the band maxed out. Someone with a really big head or someone trying to wear this around a hat would probably get headaches after wearing this for a while.
I like the beam clarity, intensity, and battery life. The durability is yet to be tested.
Customer Review: Will put to test on long railroad tunnels. Summary: 4 Stars
We have several brands of these things...and we have rechargable ones even that are more expensive. But looks like these well do the best job for our needs when riding our bikes on converted old railroad beds that have long tunnels. Last time our lights were definitly under powered. Never again..I wish they were a bit lighter but need that power. I didn't find a problem with the battery case at all. I hope it doesn't open up on us as it didn't seem to catch all that much but easy to use. Simple switching and not enough information about how long the batteries well last in the literature with them. Overall well fit our needs but not over the top great. If the batteries carry us through a whole days ride with about 9 tunnels including one a mile long then that's all we hope for.
