I normally buy the double-sided tarp from Home Depot and was looking to buy from a non-box store and save a little money. Unfortunately, this tarp falls short. It is definitely thinner than the HD tarp. I haven't had a chance to really test the durability of this tarp, but I'm guessing I'll only get one year out of it [I get two years with the HD tarp.]
It also bothers me that they claim this is a 5.5oz/yard material. Maybe that means something other than what it seems to say, but I weighed it and it comes out well short - including the packaging and reinforcing, etc.
All-in-all I think it is a much better tarp than you get buying the cheap blue tarps, but not as good as a $29 heavy duty tarp bought elsewhere. The extra $5 for a second year of use would be well worth it.

We bought this item with the intentions of using it on our dog's kennel. One other reviewer mentioned that this is what they had used the tarp for and it worked great. So we put the tarp up and it seemed to work great. It made the kennel nice and shady for our dog. Then after about 2 weeks There was a summer storm and during the storm at least three of the grommets ripped out. One was even a corner one with the extra black protector. This one was ripped out completely, black protector and all. It might be possible that our tarp was just defective but since there seems to be no way to get a refund or a replacement we will never know. I bought this item mostly for the color (brown). I don't really think it should be called heavy duty. The tarp is pretty thin -- much thinner that a similar "looking" tarp I bought in a store a few years back. Also, the 12x16 tarp appears to be two pieces that are seamed together in the middle. I'm using it to cover our patio furniture, and it seems to be holding up OK under the snow. I'll try to do a follow-up in the Spring and let everyone know if it kept the water out. But I would not expect this tarp to hold up long if there is any movement (i.e. flapping in the wind).Customer Review: Super Camping Tarp

We primarily use this tarp under our very large tent and are very satisfied. It is both heavy and strong. It is waterproof and easy to clean, refold and store. It is just perfect for this use. I shopped for quality and price before I ordered this tarp and was very satisfied with this choice. I also liked that it was not a bright yellow or orange, as some are. Colorwise it blends in with the outdoors.

Good purchase. I'm glad I went with the better tarp. I needed something to lay down under an above-ground pool we just bought. This is so much better and higher quality than those cheap other things and it's even better than other tarps. Worth it. It's holding up nicely in the sun and with the pool water sloshing on it. No problems.
