it's just ok. although there are "teeth", i was unable to get it to grip a banner i was trying to hang. maybe if there was some kind of non-slip rubberized portion to the teeth, that would help.
if the tarp, or material, is not too slick or sufficiently thin enough, the teeth do a good job of holding on. overall, still a good product.
