OK, so our son has autism and one of the things he's fascinated with is light switches. As you can imagine, this complicates napping and sleeping at night. For more than a year, our only solution had been to unscrew the light bulb in the overhead light in his room. Well, when we had to remove his table top lamp too and then were caught in a "poop-boobytrap" inadvertently spreading said matter throughout his room with our feet because it was dark and we couldn't see...well, let's just say we HAD to find a better solution! I was ready to try to invent something myself at that point! But what do you know, a Google search and a subsequent search of Amazon yielded this fine beauty of a switch. This thing probably will literally save a year or so off our lives due to reduced stress...and maybe our son's too!
This switchguard works great and looks pretty good too. It matches a regular switch cover in size and color and our crafty son who can find a way to get into just about anything hasn't figured out the button yet and it's been about 4 months. Even if he sees us press the button to activate the switch, it requires enough pressure that from his height (he's an average height 3 year old) there's no way he could push hard enough.
This thing was also easy to install and a reasonable price. Right after we installed it, we purchased 2 more for the grandparents. Love it.
