Tools and Hardware Reviews of EUREKA Easy Clean Hand Vacuum 5 lbs, YellowCustomer Review: Piece of Plastic Garbage! Summary: 1 Stars
This is an absolute piece of plastic JUNK! Manufactured by Eureka which is owned by Electrolux. I purchased this in January based on the positive reviews posted here. It worked fine for awhile, but twice within a 2 month period, the roller brush stopped turning because it kept getting clogged with cat hair. While trying to clean the unit, I discovered a cracked plastic piece which houses the screw that secures the bracket over the roller brush. This made it impossible to remove the screw so I could clean out the roller brush and to replace the belt. And, by the way, you will not find any instructions whatsoever in the manual on replacing the belt. I called Eureka customer service and they told me to take it to one of their warranty repair stations. My nightmare began when the repair station fabricated a story that it was MY fault that the screw housing was cracked. This is what they reported to Eureka, blamed it on the customer! So Eureka refused to honor their warranty. It's quite obvious that the warranty repair station did not want to repair it in the first place because they don't make any money on warranty repairs. They 'break even!' This is what I was told by the repairman. He also complained about the poor quality plastic garbage that's being manufactured today by vacuum companies. EUREKA, ARE YOU LISTENING?? If you are selling a product made of cheap plastic parts, then as your warranty states, you should replace these cheap plastic parts when they break AS STATED IN YOUR ONE YEAR WARRANTY. If you don't, then this is considered 'breech of warranty' or 'WARRANTY FRAUD' and is subject to a class action lawsuit. My vacuum is still in the shop while I battle this out with Eureka. AMAZON, you should be ashamed of selling this product.
Customer Review: Great vacuum, short life Summary: 3 Stars
I got it in November of 2006, and this little vacuum was pretty sweet. It did an awesome job on the stairs and the hose attachment was good for getting into some of the hard to clean areas around the house. I was always amazed to see how much "stuff" it was picking up off the floor. Kinda gross.
But, not all good things are meant to last apparently. In Feb of '08, this little guy died in a blaze of glory. The back end lit up like the Fourth of July and a bunch of sparks went flying out the back. 16 months after I had gotten it, it was dead.
However, because it did such a great job while I had it, I'm considering getting another one to replace it. That's why I'm giving it three stars instead of 1. When it works, its a 5-star product, but its short life knocks it down a couple of notches.
Customer Review: Eureka EUK71AV Handheld Vacuum Summary: 5 Stars
I am a professional purchaser for a nationally recognized R & D institution.I reaserched hand held vacuums utilizing exactly the same methods I employ on thousands of work related products.
I specifically looked for a light weight, powerful, quiet, multi functional
hand vacuum. I previously utilized a Dust Devil unit that weighed considerabley more, constantly screeched until you were deaf, and couldn't do the verticle portion of stairs. The Eureaka EUK71A alleviated all those problems.
The only side effect was when I vacuumed some carpeted stairs and discovered to my chagrin, how much dirt and debris that was really hidden in the carpet.Except for the unknown longevity of the internal filter, I give it a big thumbs up.
Customer Review: Very good vacuum Summary: 4 Stars
This is a good little vacuum. I bought it mainly for cleaning the car and vacuuming the stairs. It does a great job at both. The brushes can be turned on or off and if the hand unit is too big for the job the hose can detach and there is a wand that can reach the small areas. My only complaint would be that the hose is not very long and it can be a little tough to reach some areas. The suction is almost as good as the heavy-duty vacuum machines at the car washes and the cord is plenty long to reach a good distance. Obviously it would be nice not to have a cord at all, but I don't think it's possible to get the long-term power with a cordless vacuum that you can get with one of these.
Customer Review: Best Small Pet Vac I've Owned Summary: 5 Stars
I previously had a Dirt Devel, and it was not good. I took it apart to find that there is no direct drive belt to the sweeper. It only turns by air flow, and is very weak. This Eureka has a direct drive motor to drive the sweeper. This is the success to this little vac - the sweeper is a powerful little bugger!
It also has a crevace tool that is stored securely in the unit. The dirt cup and filter are also easy to empty and clean. Lastly, the flip top front, which I thought would be a useless gimmick, really helps to make it easy to clean the vertical parts of the carpeted stairs.
Buy this, and you won't be disappointed.
