Amazon says I purchased four six packs of these bulbs on 1/10/10. Today is 2/1/11. At least 6 bulbs no longer turn on. Two more are showing signs of failure (one is extremely dim, the other flickers from time to time). These bulbs are suppose to save money and be more environmently friendly yet they do neither. I have to pay to ship these back for replacement and parts if not all will wind up in the trash much earlier than the 15,000 hour lifespan the manufacturer claims. Look elsewhere for a dimmable CFL.Customer Review: Not lasting two years

The packaging is great - it is nice to not have to take out scissors and risk being sliced by plastic. The bulbs worked well, as you would expect. I put them in less than two years ago and they are all starting to die. This is not the longevity promised on the package.
Because it takes them a while to get going I always set them on maximum brightness and never really used the dimness feature.
The frosting helps make the light more pleasant.

I installed these tonight and my first impression is pretty good. They are 45w equiv, and emit a nice soft light that is not super bright. I would not want these in a room where I needed light for reading, or in a kitchen where you would want something bright. Most fluorescent lights are very bright and industrial, but these are warm and comfy. They dim very nicely and evenly, so you can get an even softer effect if you wanted to.Customer Review: Great mood Lighting

I needed 10 bulbs for recessed lighting for the perimeter of our top covered deck. I did not want the porch to look like an airport runway. I had tried the dimmable down to 15 watt and they just did not dim enough. These were just right. I can dim them down to less than a dim lightlight. They did the trick for low, low, mood lighting. I was originally a big fan of these and installed 30-40 of them throughout my house in 2009. While probably 2/3 of them are OK, about 1/3 have started to flicker intermittently or have gone out completely. Big disapointment.
