Tools and Hardware Reviews of Eco-heater 602 High-Efficiency Electric Panel Whole-Room Heater

Customer Review: Not a whole room heater!
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought this as a christmas gift for my boyfriend to use in his bedroom. Mainly because it is cost efficient and doesn't take up any floor space. Being very excited to install it, it was a big let down. I've read all the reviews on here and that is why I end up paying so much for this little thing. First, we left it on for hours and the room was still cold! Then,we leave the central heater on and have this on and after the central heater gets turned off, this does not keep the room cozy whatsoever. How it heats up a whole room (ours was 9x9) is beyond me. For the same amount of money, you can buy yourself a nice radiator instead. Please save yourself the money and time. This thing does not work.

Pros:
- You can place your hands 5 inches from it to warm up
- probably saves you energy (because it doesn't heat up)

Cons:
- does not heat up a room
- really heavy, be sure you mount it on your wall where there is support
- way too expensive for what not doing what it claims

Customer Review: Does Not Work - Severely Over Priced wall ornament - Heat Radius 3 ft Max

Forget using this to heat any size room larger than a very tiny 3x5 bathroom. Running 2 of these 24 hours a day in a 9x10 room only raised temp 2 degrees. Not Green as they do not provide adequate heat for energy used. You are better off buying a less expensive heater that uses somewhat more electricity but provides substantially more heat output. I have since purchased a SoleusAir Micathermic Flat Panel Heater at less than 1/2 the price of one of these, but it puts out at least twice the heat than two of these "Eco-heaters" combined using about the same amount of electricity (976 watts vs 800 watts). The Micathermic Flat Panel raised the room temperature fast and can be wall mounted or rolled around on included wheels. Not so with the "Eco-heater" which can only be wall mounted and does not provide any heat more than 3 feet from the device. Lets just say you have been warned about the pitfalls of the "Eco-heater" and if you buy it, you will come to regret that decision because it will not live up to the hype.

Customer Review: Not enough information...
Summary: 2 Stars

I purchased an eco-heater for a renovation project we are doing at our house. I was about ready to install the product and read through the instructions included in the package which indicate that this product is not to be used in a bathroom area. Not only that, but I installed the outlet for the unit to be located behind the panel so that the cord would be out of sight. According to the instructions, this is also not permitted.
I did a lot of research on the Eco-Heat website before I purchased the product and no-where on the website does it state that the product cannot be used in wet areas or that the plug has to be exposed. As a matter of fact, none of the pictures and graphics on thier website (or any website for that matter) show a cord coming from the unit. I'm a pretty handy guy and wired/plumbed my whole new kitchen, so I know my way around electrical appliances. This...so far...is not making me happy. I'm trying to contact Eco-Heat to find out if I can use this thing at all. Stay tuned...

Customer Review: Limited Possibilities
Summary: 3 Stars

After reading the positive reviews on this item, I was excited to mount this in my kitchen wall, which is located above the garage. The floor of the kitchen, as well as the kitchen itself, gets quite chilly once the temperatures dip down into the 30s.

While the kitchen dimensions are larger than the recommended 10x12', I was expecting it to make SOME difference in the overall temperature of the room. According to my thermometer, which I located on the other side of the 14x16' room, it MAY have raised it one degree. There's definite warmth coming from the unit, but I think for a heater to perform in a cold room, the warm air needs to MOVE into the room rather than loom a short distance around the unit, so to speak.

On the plus side, it is hardly noticeable. It does get quite hot, so to keep my dog from burning her curious snout, I set a small gate I had handy in front of it. I'm not sure if this is really necessary, though.

Customer Review: Efficient Reliable convection panel heater, long term review
Summary: 5 Stars

I've had my 8 panels in use for well over 18 months in upstate NY... after reading the one star review, I checked all 8 with no signs of cracking observed on any of mine? Unless something changes, I highly recommend these panels because mine have already easily paid for themselves! Despite being on 24-7 during the Cold months, they perform safely & reliably. Mine were purchased from Econo-Heat, a Texas Distributor, and appear to be exactly the same product pictured and described. I'm not recommending these for homes with toddlers / young children because they will get hot (especially if room temperatures are over 69degrees F.) but are structurally safe if Installed Correctly. They are easy to install as well. This is a supplimental convection heat used in conjuction with a primary home heating method. It has greatly reduced my need to run my kerosene furnace and has resulted in noticable savings, despite being electric panels!!! ;-)
