Tools and Hardware Reviews of Eco-heater 602 High-Efficiency Electric Panel Whole-Room HeaterCustomer Review: compact, stable , and toasty Summary: 5 Stars
In a word...Hooray. Low energy consumption (400 watts), no tipping over, easy to install, nice toasty heat, this heater has many benefits. My home is heated by a centrally located fireplace (so I'm already a fan of radiant heat) and I use this heater to keep a bedroom warm. Installed this about 1 week ago and so far so good. As promised on the packaging, it really does only take 10 minutes to install.
The only downside is that the panel itself does get reasonably hot, it's true that it's safe enough that you can touch it and not get burnt, but you won't want too do that. I was going to install in a kids room, but had second thoughts after giving it a test run. Also it would have been great for the manufacturer to include information re: direct wire installation or use of a thermostat. ..but these are really minor points compared to having a great heat source that is safely out of the way, mounted to the wall, and efficient.
Customer Review: Extremely hot to the touch Summary: 2 Stars
CAUTION! This heater gets extremely hot to the touch. The wall behind the heater will also get quite hot. I have been using this heater for over a year to heat my bathroom which has no other source of heat. I have it connected to a thermostat that plugs into the wall outlet. I have to set the thermostat way up between 76-78 to maintain the room around 69 because the heater, the wall, and the thermostat will get very hot before the room begins to get warm. If you don't connect the heater to a thermostat, the heater will get incredibly hot to the touch. I can't tell that it has saved any on my electric bill over the oil-filled radiator heater I had been using previously. It is low profile and unobtrusive except the plug sticks straight out and when you connect that to a thermostat it sticks out about 5 inches. It would have been nice to have a flat 90-degree plug and a storage mechanism for the excess power cord.
Customer Review: caveat Summary: 1 Stars
It was love at first sight, A great looking heater, producing oodles of heat - even in upstate New York, and using 1/3 of the wattage of my baseboard heaters - what's not to love? I picked up six of them and mounted them on various walls around the house.
The honeymoon ended after 18 months. The heater in my bedroom started singing a tuneful but dolorous melody whenever it turned on. A few weeks of that and it sang no more. Curious, I removed it from its wall mounting and discovered large, deep cracks on the surface of its backside. Even more curious, I started removing some of the other heaters. Though only three had scary cracks, all showed some signs of cracking. It did not seem to matter whether they had been mounted on interior or exterior walls. They cracked. I wish the manufacturer had gone to Corning for the ceramic!
Fire hazard, I said to myself.
Divorce was inevitable.
Customer Review: Morgan's Mommy Summary: 5 Stars
I was really skeptical of this prodcut, but intrigued enough to purchase, and I'm quite pleased! My daughter's room is right above the garage, and gets quite cold, even though it's "properly" heated and insulated. We installed the eco-heater 2 weeks ago, and it's working great. It's essentially a ceramic tile with a heating element in it somehow, and it works great in her small room (about 10x10). I painted it, so it really looks like part of her wall, which is a big plus for me.
One suggestion that was mentioned by another reviewer is to use a thermostat. We're using one, and it's keeping the room a perfect 72 through the night.
**Edited to add: We've now had this unit for a year, and it's still working great! The heat is really nice, it's like having radiant heat on the wall--a gentle warmth that's just enough to keep the room warm. Still highly recommended.
Customer Review: We love this Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this for our second floor, which gets no heat. My 2 daughters room is freezing and the space heaters had to run all night to keep them warm. We bought his and it keeps the room very comfortable. Not as warm as a space heater would get, but the room is 12x17, larger than recommended. Our electric bill has been much lower. The first one we got was broken, so keep your receipt and packaging. They exchanged it right away and we had a new one. We are very happy with it and are planning on buying 2 more for the basement and the other upstairs bedroom. It takes up no room, does not get too hot, and does the job. Little children may not realize to take their hand off of it. My 19 month old knows not to touch it because it is hot. I can assume if a baby left their hadn on it that it could get burned, but it would take a while. Overall a great product.
