Tools and Hardware Reviews of Eco-heater 602 High-Efficiency Electric Panel Whole-Room Heater

Customer Review: Only warm when you are very close to it.
Summary: 2 Stars

Exactly what the instruction says because I read a customer service reply to a reviewer stating that the equipment wasn't set up properly. I installed this back in early November when it wasn't too cold. It seemed to warm up the room without turning the central unit on. Now that the weather is freezing cold outside it doesn't do much to warm us up. When I touch the ceramic tile it's burning hot so I know its working but when you are about 3 feet away you can't tell if it's on or not without looking at the light on the switch. I'm a bit disappointed but my wife says it seems to help in between the time when the central unit is off. If I pay over $100 dollar for a space heater I expect it to warm up at least one room with the door close on a winery night. I guess it would help putting it right next to your bed and risk burning yourself while you are sleeping.

Customer Review: Scary, ineffectiuve, cracking junk
Summary: 1 Stars

I have three of these and within 18 months they have all cracked, burned the wall, and heat as well as an easy bake oven.

I have one in the bedroom, bathroom and living room. They have all developed cracks and the one in the bathroom made a kind of soft hissing noise. Also they are completely ineffective at heating air more than 2.5 feet away from the heater. The walls where the heaters are mounted are showing burn marks and I've had to repaint my walls.

Despite the fact that as heaters they are horrible, if you touch them, they are hot! So what you have is giant hot plate attached to your wall that won't heat the air but will cause some pain if you get too close while you repaint your wall or examine the cracks that have formed on the so-called heaters. BOO!!!!!

Customer Review: Unfortunately, not safe
Summary: 1 Stars

I was so happy with my first Eco-Heater that I soon bought a second one. Then one of them developed a self-caused burn mark. I contacted the company, which promptly replaced it. I was so happy with the service that I bought another one (I have solar panels so my electricity is virtually free while my gas heating system is quite costly). So now I have three. Unfortunately, one of them is no longer usable because I fear the burnt-wire smell it gives out (although I don't see any traces of the problem). The second one makes a big scary spark when I turn it off. The third one still works well under my desk to keep my legs warm while I work. I really love the Eco-Heater, I'll most certainly try it again but for now I don't find it safe to use unless I'm in the room with it.

Customer Review: some what disappointed
Summary: 3 Stars

I purchased two of these heaters last year. They were properly installed on inside walls and work to expectations for the first season. (Expectations) low electrical expense, safe heating system. This season I noticed that both units were cracking. Since the units have a two year warranty I contacted the manufacture/distributor, note they do not list a telephone number only an email address. They did respond to my email, but nothing ever gets done. They agreed to ship two new units but they never arrive, I was then told they are on back order (stall). Then one unit did arrive, but it was a return from another customer and this unit was not only cracked, it was broken in half. Again, they do respond to my e-mail's but without results.

Customer Review: it works, but...
Summary: 3 Stars

This heater works for us providing additional heat to the baby's room which gets central heat but has a lot of windows and wasn't as warm as the rest of the house. Now we can make his room warmer, which is great! Beware of the mounting hardware though... The screws were very hard to screw into the plastic drywall anchors causing 1 of the anchors to turn in the wall and strip the mounting hole. Replaced with 4" steel bolts and butterfly anchors, which worked great and should have been provided by the manufacturer instead of the cheap, defective molded plastic anchors. May still need a thermostat and a bit concerned about the cracking noted by other users of more than 1 year. I will update this review in a year or 2 concerning reliablitily.
