Customer Review: Ohhh yeahhh
Summary: 4 Stars

I just received this today and you bet your butt I had it together and preheating in five minutes! All the kids down for a nap, I had a perfect opportunity to really test it out without interruption. Let me just say, my linoleum floor was filthy. We live in PA and have recently been nailed with about 34 inches of snow. We had all kinds of grime built up on this floor, especially with all the road salt residue etc. I also have four children all 6 and under, so add on all the grime from stuck on stickers, stuck on toddler snacks, juice spills...etc. My floor was most definitely THE floor to test out a product's worthiness. It worked amazingly well. I was in awe. Even the stuck on stickers softened and pulled right up. My floor is shiny squeaky clean. I could not be more pleased.

I was actually concerned because I started reading the negative reviews as I was waiting for my steamer to arrive. I read things like the water didn't get hot enough, it didn't clean well enough, the clips to hold the towel in place were bad, the water spilled all over etc. I did not have any one of those issues with it. So my opinion is; people either got some defective products (which lets face it, every product has batches now and then of lemons) or they did something wrong. Two measures of water is all it takes for fifteen minutes, and that does not mean fill the cup up twice. There is a line on that cup that is probably about 3/4 of the way up. You could easily overfill the steamer if you are not paying attention to that line on the cup, which could then cause the water to leak out. The steamer got VERY hot, I was barefoot so I can tell you this for fact, it was hot to almost uncomfortable to touch. It most definitely is hot enough to sterilize, and the slower you go obviously concentrates the heat on that area of floor you are working on more then if you were moving quickly. I would say it was quite effortless to push but weighty enough to get the gunk off the floor. I had some sticky spots of juice spills that had gotten missed when cleaning up the spill with the swiffer and the Eureka took it right up, one swipe sometimes two...gone. The clips that hold the pad in place seem just fine to me as well.

The only "complaint" I guess I could give it is the handle, while it's plenty sturdy enough, could use some ergonomic redesign. The swiffer handle is actually nicer with the padding and a more ergo handle, IMO. I don't think this is a deal breaker, it just would make it a five star product in my book. I also think that the cord could be a bit longer. I mean, it's not a huge deal to unplug it and move it, but for my area of kitchen I needed about two more feet to make it to both sides on the kitchen on one outlet. Again, not a deal breaker. For the price and the quality of this steamer, it's a no-brainer.

Customer Review: HATE, HATE, HATE this steam mop
Summary: 1 Stars

I don't quite know where to start. I spent so much hard earned money on this horrible thing. I'm missing my Shark Steam mop.

For a mop that gets great reviews I can't believe how dissappointed I am! Wish I could return it but as no store in my area carried it I had to go to ebay to get one. First time using it it poured the entire tank of water on my floor - no steam - within a 3' area. Had to get towels to mop it up. Refilled, changed the pad and tried again. It sort of steamed but when mopping you can't tell. Doesn't seem to be heating up to the temp that they claim. Took a lot longer to get my floors clean than the Shark steam mop that I replaced. Cord not nearly long enough - with my Shark steam mop I can do my entry, kitchen and laundry room without unplugging - this one I had to unplug and move it 2x. My biggest gripe and the reason I HATE this mop is the mop head is HUGE - it doesn't get under cabinets, under the refrigerator, in the corners or around the toilets at all. This means not only do I have to mop but also have to get on my hands and knees to clean the areas it can't get to. I am SO sorry I spent so much money on this mop that I will hate to use. In this recession we don't have extra so now i'm stuck till I can save enough to buy something else and i'm near tears because this thing is useless to me.

UPDATE ON STEAM MOP - Sept 2010. Well, after using this mop for a couple of months I still hate the thing. Santizing does no good when it can't even reach between walls and toilets - an area I really want sanitized. Big and bulky head make this a chore to use as well. I was hoping this steam mop would "grow" on me the more I used it and I've actually come to hate it more and more. Where I could even get my 2 teens to mop a floor with the Shark mop I can't even get them to touch this one after they tried it once. In addition to the fact I have to keep plugging and unplugging it to do the same amount of floor space the Shark did without that hassle I have to refill it twice to do the same amount of floor the Shark did on one tank of water - twice over! I am currently saving money to re-purchase the Shark Steam Mop as this one is horrible.

Update #3: I have now purchased the Shark Steam Mop and what a difference! Rotating mop head, large water tank, longer cord. I actually enjoy mopping my floors again! There is no comparison as far as ease of use. The big bulky head of the Eureka was the downfall - as was the shorter cord and smaller water capacity. With the Shark Mop I can mop my kitchen, laundry and entry way tile, move to the wood floor in the large bathroom, then the laminate wood floor in the small bathroom and do it all 2x before having to refill. SO NICE! Sorry I wasted my money on the Eureka. Wish I could get it back....

Customer Review: Great buy!! LOVE IT!
Summary: 5 Stars

After we had our daughter, I suddenly became very aware of each and every chemical I used to clean our house. I started to worry about the effects that our floor cleaner could have on her once she started to crawl. Everyone knows that kids constantly have their hands, or things they've picked up from the floor, in their mouth! After quite a bit of searching for the safest products online, one day I saw in infomercial for a steam mop. I'll be honest, till then I'd never even heard of one!! So I did some digging around online to find out which one was the best. Well, the Eureka Enviro Steamer was the one that always seemed to come out on top. I decided, what the hey, it's only $70!! If it means that my baby isn't exposed to chemical cleaners on our floor, it's worth it! I tried it out the day it came in!! I cleaned every speck of tile in my house! My first thought was, WONDERFUL! I really don't like to mop at all, (who does?!) but this makes it feel like so much less of a chore. The directions are clear and easy, the operation could not be simpler, and I love that the pads are washable/reuseable. It heats up the water in no time at all!! By the time I finished sweeping my kitchen (less than 5 minutes) it was already emitting steam and ready to go. There were a couple spots I was really wanting to use it on - namely underneath my garbage can and in front of the stove - the messiest spots in my kitchen. I attacked the spot under the can first. The first pass with the mop got up almost everything, but there were still a few spots that needed a little more work. So, as the directions said, I held the mop there for a couple extra seconds (I counted to 6) and it worked like a charm! As I said, I cleaned all the tile in my house, in about 30 minutes!! I'm pretty sure it only took that long because I was getting used to using it. I'm sure my next time using it will be much quicker. For cleaning my kitchen, entry way, and dining area, I filled the tank three times. The last refill however was only to clean a small section, so I ended up dumping most of that back out. I was impressed that it only took slightly more than 2 tanks to clean everything! Also, they have this great feature at the top that you can clip the cord into, so you're not always having to worry about it getting in your way. The only thing that I can say I wasn't COMPLETLY happy with was the drying time. I expected that the temperature of the steam would make drying time very short. It was still faster than the time it takes for a normal mopping to dry, but just longer than I expected. (Probably around 3-5 minutes. Just long enough for my daughter to sneek into the kitchen and slip and fall!! But at lest she wasn't sliding around on any chemicals!) So all in all, I feel it was a great buy and I've been recommending it to everyone I know!!

Customer Review: Eureka 313A Floor Steamer is Almost Perfect
Summary: 4 Stars

I've had my Eureka 313A Floor Steamer for about a month. So far, I love it. And so does my daughter (19) (So I, personally, only have to clean the floors half as often!) When I first got it, it seemed to run out of water pretty quick, and take a while to build up steam after refilling it. But as other reviewers have said, both of those issues lessened with more use. The cord is rather short though. If the cord were longer.... I'd give it 5-stars. And I would like the handle "cord wrap" lever to be quick release. Other than the cord issues, I love this steamer.

I had a Shark steamer, and took it back. It had no on/off switch so unplugging it was the only way to "turn it off" and it would spark at the outlet, and the cord would get very hot. The Shark was NOISY and if you didn't pump the handle - it wouldn't steam. The Shark was an Annoying steamer to say the least. But the Eureka - is quiet. In fact, sometimes it is so quiet and I don't see steam, so I wonder if it's working... until I lift it up to look at the space under it, and sure enough there is LOTS of steam under there. It just stays Under the steamer and onto the Floor where it is needed instead of rising up all around it. The floor dries a lot quicker with the Eureka than the Shark also. Not instantly, like I had read, but quick enough. I read a review here that said the floors seem to STAY cleaner, longer, after using this steamer. That sounded a bit unrealistic. But I really do think it is True. My daughter even mentioned it, without ever reading any reviews.

I also clean the floors for an 84 year old friend of mine. She has several animals and two grown sons tracking in and out. Her kitchen floor used to be a nightmare. But now - it is Easy to clean and I also think HER floor stays cleaner, longer.... it really seems to need less cleaning since I got this steamer. No more backaches either. Just gently move the steamer along and the floor seems to clean itself. The handle is easily adjustable for housekeepers of different heights! And you don't have to use the pads that come with it. I left the pads at my friend's house the other day, so my daughter just wrapped a towel around the steamer instead. It did just as great a job.

If you are considering a floor steamer - this is a great choice. You don't always have to Pay more to get Quality! At the time of my purchase, Amazon was offering a great deal. I paid only $20 total! But even at full price, I think the steamer is worth it. For a product to put an END to my Dread of mopping floors - I'm happy. (So was my husband when I took the other 4 mops I had to the thrift shop (including a Floormate.) Though I felt guilty giving them inferior products!)

Customer Review: Generally positive
Summary: 4 Stars

After reading many reviews for several different products, I decided to go with the Eureka Enviro Steamer. Amazon said it would take 7-10 days to arrive, but it was here after only about 2 or 3 days! After it arrived it took me a little while to figure out how the handle telescoped, because the directions didn't seem real clear to me and I'm not very technologically savvy. Once I got it going, though,it seemed to do a good job on my floors, and it definitely picks up dirt a Swiffer misses. I can walk across my floors barefoot now without feeling sticky stuff on them. Much nicer than getting down on my hands and knees to clean the floor, and less messy than using a mop. It takes less than 5 minutes to heat up. Drying time is pretty quick, too. My kitchen and foyer are in an "L" shape and if I plug in the cord between the two, I can reach both areas just fine.

On the down side: I don't know if this is just the particular cleaner I have or if this is a common problem, but the amount of time I'm able to clean my floors before the machine runs out of steam seems to vary, or at least it has in the 5 times I've used it so far. The first time I used it, it ran for about 15 minutes. The second time I used it, it ran for what seemed like only 8-9 minutes at the most. When I used it a third time, I set a timer; I figured if it ran for only 8-9 minutes again, I was going to call Eureka. No problems this time---after 19 minutes, I finally shut the timer off, and the empty indicator light still hadn't come on. The last two times I've used it, it's run for about 14-15 minutes before needing a refill. Maybe it just needs time to adjust before running for a consistent number of minutes.

Would I buy it again? Yes. It meets my needs for the space I have, and it's kind of fun to use. Cleaning my floor isn't the "chore" that it used to be. It would have been nice, though, if the water reservoir was a little larger. It's fine if I do a quick clean-up, but if I go very slowly to make sure my floor's disinfected, I run out of steam shortly before I finish both areas. On the other hand, I can do two bathroom floors with time left over.

I have to agree with others' recommendations that when you wash the pads,
let them air dry to prevent shrinkage. You also have to sweep the floor first because the steamer doesn't remove crumbs---but then, does any steamer? Though someone suggested getting the pad wet before using, I wouldn't recommend it. The one time I tried it, my floor was very wet and took an extremely long time to dry.

I think if you're looking for a floor steamer that works pretty well and is at a reasonable price, the Enviro Steamer is a good buy.
