I bought the Eureka Quick-Up Cordless Vacuum 96F stick vac from a different online retailer with in store pick-up. I wanted a small, lightweight vacuum to use daily on my hard floors so I wouldn't have to sweep. I also wanted something my husband would use easily so he could also clean up so we could share the cleaning. I did some research on the various types of sweepers and stick vacuums, and found this one seemed to be universally well rated. This vacuum has really fabulous reviews all over the internet, and I had it in my wish list but didn't want to spend $40-$60 plus shipping. Shopping around on-line, I did find it for my desired budget.
I used the vacuum for the fist time today on my downstairs floors that are mixed vinyl tiles and carpet. I have many birds, big and small, and cats so I have lots of stuff to test a vacuum.
On the hard floors, the vacuum did very well on all the debris except the larger pieces like bird chewed cardboard, bird pellets, or pieces of chewed up bird toys. I did find if I lifted the vac up slightly it would pick those bigger things up well. I think it is because the nose of the vacuum is very close to the floor that it couldn't roll over the larger pieces to pick them up.
I was very surprised how well the vacuum did on my carpet area around the little birds' cages. They throw a lot of itty bitty food around and it ends up everywhere in short order if I don't vacuum a few times a week around their cage. This little vacuum did very well and with the exception of not having a small attachment to get into corners, I think it cleaned up the bird food as well as my big canister vacuum that I love.
My reason for not giving this vacuum 5 stars is because the hand vacuum is only removing the stick part of the handle, and the large vacuum head cannot be removed. So, it's not really a "dustbuster" type of hand vacuum. Not really small enough to clean your car, for example. I would have preferred if you could remove both the stick handle and the vacuum head, but besides that, I am very pleased.
I had no problems with the battery on the first use, and it successfully kept its suction for 800 sq ft using both the hard floor and carpet settings.
I am pleased with the Eureka Quick-up 96F and I think it will be a big help to me in keeping up with the big messes of my house. Time will tell who will win the battle of parrot verse vacuum, and truthfully no vacuum can keep up with birds and the disaster area they create, but this vacuum promises to be a great value and a great product.
