i do have newly carpeted apartment that i just moved into and realized i needed to replace my 12 year old Hoover fast. i did my research and read all the reviews on Amazon and decided an Eureka brand had better all over reviews and that if i could find an affordable Altima that would best be suited for my needs as it has all the accesories and is reasonable. i have 2 ceiling fans and lots of doorways and bookcases tables and the things that dustcollects on that need to be dusted weekly , not to mention tile floors and ceiling mouldings and a patio door and large window ledge. i was thrilled as i was out shopping i saw this model it was $90.88 on sale at Nebraska Furniture Mart. excellent place to get anything if you all live near one in the midwest. The sales person also had good things to say about Eureka. i took it home put it together it took me also around ten minutes and ran a quick pass over my carpet near the kitchen and was horrified when a dustball the size of a grape showed up in the cyclone bin. i just had vaccumed 5 days earlier with the hoover and i'm not THAT messy of a person. i had read the reviews of other models that the nozzle for the self cleaning duster didnt stay in and the hose was flimsy. i notice either problem with this model, i truly LOVE the self cleaning duster and the power paw attachment. it made things so much easier to dust the above mentioned things and clean the lazyboy recliner and clear the tile floors for mopping. This vaccum has major power and SUCTION in fact i used the power paw on my area rugs as the Altima tried to eat the first rug. but dont mistake me it works great. to me it wasnt heavy at all and was very easy to maneuver around my furniture. i like the long cord as i didnt have to keep unplugging and replugging it from room to room. i dont have that large of an apartment but the old hoover i had to.. i like the widepath and the edge cleaner as it picks up the carpet edge without having to use the hose at the baseboards. when i finished i had a alarming amount of dust collected with the first grape size bustbunny in the cyclone bin.. EWWW it was very easy to release the cup and just dump out in the trash bag, i have allergies and i cant believe what amount of dust i'd been living with since i moved in and id vaccumed twice a week also..As i said i just bought this and have no idea if the other models that the people reviewed tht had various design flaws will apply.. but i have an extended warranty with furniture mart just in case. so far. i love it.
