Customer Review: Wouldn't buy this again

First off, I may be a bit biased because we owned a 5 stage reverse osmo system prior to this. But I purchased this for its easy and simplicity. But when I installed it I was really disappointed with the water quality. The taste was really bad. Over time the taste has gotten more tolerable, but as soon as this filter slows down, and needs to be replaced? I'm going back to the Premier reverse 5 stage system sold from Costco. I would not recommend this to anyone who care how there water tastes.
Sorry I really don't like making bad reviews. But this thing isn't a good filtration system.

This filter is really bad. I'm finally having to change it out and trash the entire system. For people who have this system try and fill a dish of water and let it sit over night. Ours would develop a chemical film on the surface. We wash and cook rice with the filtered water. Lately the rice we cook with the filtered water developed a really bad rotting odor, after a few hours. My wife was thinking it was the rice cooker? But I suggested that she try and cook some using the bottled water. (She did) the rice was absolutely perfect.
I don't know what this filter is filtering but it appears to be making the water quality worse.
This unit was a complete waste of money! Didn't even last a year! Terrible filter!
I'm off to CostCo to purchase the new Watts Premier 4RO system.
Description of Everpure EV9270-76 H-300 Drinking Water System
The Everpure H-200 water filter system finely polishes treated water to premium quality for drinking and cooking. Reduces chlorine taste and odor and chloramines. Reduces dirt, rust, and other particulates such as oxidized iron, manganese and sulfides. Reduces parasitic protozoan cysts such as Giardia, Entamoeba, Cryptosporidium. The Everpure H-300 water filters control even extreme levels of common"off" tastes and odors, including those which are earthy, moldy and fishy. Reduces lead to below the Federal Action Level of 15 ppb. Effectively reduces Volatile Organic Chemicals (VOCs), including Trihalomethanes (THMs). KDF Media reduces limescale build-up in water-using appliances - as tested by KDF Fluid Treatment, Inc. The Everpure H300 filter system KDF Media provides bacteriostatic control - as tested by KDF Fluid Treatment, Inc. Specifications:. Maximum Flow Rate: 0.5gpm. Maximum Temperature: For Cold Water use only: 100 Degrees F (38 degrees C). Minimum Pressure: 10 psi. Maximum Pressure: 125 psi. Capacity: 300 gal. (1,136 L). Fittings: 1/4" Quick Connect Fittings. Instructions:. Everpure H-300 Installation Manual. Space required: 5" x 5" x 22" (13 x 13 x 56 cm) including 2-1/2" of clear space under unit for cartridge change. Install the H-300 replacement filter vertically with cartridge hanging down. Replace the Everpure H-300 filter cartridge when capacity is reached, or when flow becomes too slow, but at least annually. Do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before or after the system. Systems certified for cyst reduction may be used on disinfected water that may contain filterable cysts. A drinking water faucet is required.
