Customer Review: Works well despite hokey advertising

Think "Hair clippers with vacuum attached." I've been using it every 2-3 weeks for 3 years and haven't been to a barber shop once (I wear a men's tapered cut on the sides, 1 1/2 to 2 inches on top). The vacuum and spacers ensure that all hair is cut at the length you want. The tapering attachment is disappointing, but still works; it can't get shorter than 1/2 inch, and leaves a few stray longer hairs at the ears. I have to use scissors or clippers to fix that; not a major problem, but I wish the attachment had a better design. (Probably not a problem for longer cuts.) I've saved at least $250 a year, not to mention the time and effort to go to barbers and the stress of bad haircuts. Other advantages: get the same exact haircut every time; comb your hair in any direction and it's still perfectly symmetrical; easy to cut your own hair any time of the day or night; no hair clippings down your neck. Disadvantages: the tapering thing; high decibels near year ears; setting up the vacuum cleaner; inability to cut extra short.Customer Review: Two flobees have saved me thou$$ands...

I don't know when I got my first flowbee. Maybe 20 years ago, because my son is 15, and I had it way before that.
All I know is that I have cut my own hair, and that of my 3 sons, hundreds of times. They have never been to a barber. I can give them anything from buzz cuts, to longer, more layered cuts.
Actually, they like it because they can get a haircut anytime. No trips to the barber, no waiting in line, and for Dad--no paying money for a barber. If you figure $10 a haircut, I literally have save thousands and thousands of dollars. It only takes about 5-10 minutes, so no telling how much time I saved too. You probably need a pair of clippers, to trim around the ears and in the back.
I don't think it would work well if you had longer hair (e.g. longer than 4"), or if your hair was really curly. But for most situations, it works great. You just need to have a good vacuum with a hose, and you're good to go.
Go ahead and laugh--I am laughing all the way to the bank.

I just bought this 2 months ago after running across it on ebay. I've seen the commercial for it of course but never paid too much attention to that one, I actually laughed at it before
So I decided to buy it and hope for the best. The first haircut I was nervous, but it did a marvelous job. You have to learn which adaptor works for what part of the hair and what length it cuts at, but I got my haircut for less time than I would have driven to a salon and sat to wait.
I've since used it one more time, and still did a good job. This time I had to supplement with finishing touches with a scissor and razor (for the fuzz that grows in the back of the neck and the extra length on sideburns and ear).
Keep in mind I'm a guy with average to long medium curly hair. I wouldnt know how it would perform on womens hair or hair that is too curly. If youre a guy with straight or medium curly hair, I definitely think you won't be disappointed

Thought about buying one several times, but didn't take the plunge until my hairdresser (for 10 years) left town and I couldn't face the thought of trying to find someone else I liked as much. Besides, a cut and blow dry cost me $30 a month, and my husband $15. My first attempts were a little nerve racking, I just didn't have a clue, BUT I kept notes on what I did, which areas I cut to which length. Within three months, I was comfortable, and I haven't looked back. It's been four years now, so we've saved over $2,000 in stylist/hairdresser fees. My advice: 1) be cautious at first, so you don't keep cutting a little more here and a little more there; 2) make notes of what you do, so when you come up with the perfect cut for you, you can recreate it; 3) use a vacuum that has very good suction, it makes a lot of difference (we have a Hoover Wind Tunnel); and 4) remember that hair grows, if you mess it up, it's only temporary.Customer Review: The novelty never wears off...

My family has had one of these for a decade now, and saved a ton on haircuts. It was always good for a joke, entertaining to show friends, and provides for a very utilitarian haircut. Oddly enough, there's some almost hypnotic property to the device as well - and its kind of like getting a scalp massage at the same times as your haircut.
I was recently home again and cut my own hair in about 20 minutes. My wife had to trim the neck fuzz, but it was as good a trim as I get when I go to the somewhat unpredictable national chains that charge $12/cut. Take that hair establishment.
I must admit this product isn't for everyone. If you're really serious about your looks, you should probably pass on this. If you don't have a sense of humor - also pass. If being frugal fits in to your style - you've definitely found your item.
