Tools and Hardware Reviews of Flowbee Haircutting SystemCustomer Review: One of the best investments I ever made! Summary: 5 Stars
I've had my Flowbee for about 12 years and have probably saved about $1,500 by giving myself haircuts since I started. It's worked fine with no broken parts. Not only does it allow you to give yourself a good haircut, but it takes so little time. I have a central vac system in my house so I simply get the hose, hook the Flowbee onto it with the provided flexible connector, and in less than 5 minutes have my hair cut and the stuff put away. I'm a very busy person and besides saving money, I don't like wasting time driving to the barber (I live 12 miles from one) much less sitting there waiting. I tell my brother by the time he gets his car out of the garage and gets out his half mile driveway, I'm already done and doing something else. Not to mention the time saved not sitting at the barber shop and getting a long winded haircut. LOL
Customer Review: Best money saving idea? Summary: 5 Stars
I've had my Flowbee for maybe 10 years. Other than taking it apart for cleaning and due to a faulty DC connection...I've had no problems with it over that time. Still using the same small bottle of oil that came with it...3-4 drops each time.
Couldn't even begin to calculate the time and money saved by using this system. I cut my hair after a shower...with it still slightly wet...using the air flow to dry it. I do need to use some duct tape to connect it to my vacuum though. It will even trim my beard to length at least...if cut fairly short.
On a cost vs "money saved" ratio...it's probably the best deal out there. I used to hate trying to find some place to get a haircut...driving there...and usually waiting. I've been a free man for 10 years...just me, my vacuum, and my Flowbee... ;-)
Customer Review: Many Years and Haircuts later...... Summary: 5 Stars
We purchased our first Flowbee in 1986 while on vacation in the Florida Keys. Afer watching a TV ad, we decided this might be a product that would be economical for us. I have been cutting my husband's hair ever since, and now he is doing it himself except for the trimming. On occasion, my husband has cut my hair with it. My sons have always laughed at us when we talk about the Flowbee, but this morning one of them came to me and asked me to cut his hair with it. He was very pleased with the results. I can't even calculate the money the Flowbee has sved us over the years. When our original one died, we had a replacement ready that we found at a local garage sale. I think it is an excellent product, and would recommend it to everyone, especially to those family with sons.
Customer Review: Eleven years of haircuts for two... Summary: 5 Stars
...and finally something inside gave up the ghost this morning, so we've immediately ordered another one. Sure, our friends ridicule us (although they admire our haircuts), but think of the money we've saved over all these years! The best part is getting a haircut in about ten minutes, whenever you want one. And though it's maybe not the best haircut I've ever had, I never want to wear a pillowcase for a month afterward, which happened frequently after my favorite hairdresser retired fifteen years ago. My husband, who hates both waiting for anything and being fussed over and messed with, loves being able to cut his own hair, and for him it takes about five minutes. You do want a powerful vacuum cleaner, and clean the filter first for best results. Highly recommended!
Customer Review: Special instructions for coarse curly hair Summary: 4 Stars
I am Jewish and have coarse and curly hair. I actually have to run this through my hair *sideways* (that is, making a narrow path, rather than a wide path), with the leading edge lifted slightly off my head. The hair needs to be clean and dry (contrary to the instruction manual). So I can't use the taper attachments, but otherwise it works well, though it takes me a while since I'm cutting narrower swaths.
I really like not having to go out and wait at a salon - I think this will lead to my hair looking better on average.
From the manual: "Although the FLOWBEE won't work on Afro-style hair, it will work on thick or somewhat curly hair. For best results, cut this type of hair wet; wet hair is more relaxed."
