The 3HANDCPACK 3rd Hand Contractor Pack is one of those things you can do without forever until the first time you use them and then they become indispensable. Dust control in a customers house is or should be of paramount importance. Using these tools allows you to set up an effective dust containment area in a matter of minutes. I myself have been the victim of a sub-contractor that did not provide adequate dust control. This shows a total lack of professionalism. That contractor has not and will not work for me again.
As stated in another review the push pins used to adjust the height can be aggravating but would not stop me from purchasing another set of poles.
The carrying bag that comes with the set is well constructed and is very good for keeping all the separate components together.

it seems other reviewers don't like this product for dust barriers. However I use them more for cabinet and trim work. when i do use them as a dust barrier they work fine and they hold very tight.
I even use them to hold tarps around work areas when we are working in a crowded places.
Also the bag is great for throwing all those extra tools in when your packing up the site. i usually throw my level bags and scrap wood in with them since the bag is alittle on the large size - however you still need to take off the feet from the poles to get all 4 in the bag.
if you plan to use them for dust barriers all the time get the better product however if you need a all around jack of all trades type product this works great.

This thing is great! I created a plastic wall for a kitchen remodel and saved my house from becomming a dust ball. I also found that it was easy to reconfigure the wall when needed during the demo work. Another handy use was installing the remodel style high hat lights. I used one unit to hold the light tight into the cieling so I could set the clips and lock the fixture in place. If you have ever tried this in a plaster (1" thick) cieling you know how hard this is. The 3rd hand did the trick. I have read some complaints about the tool bag included with the contractor pack. I found that everything fit nicely into the bag. As long as you pop off the feet (they pop off really easy by the way) they slip right in allong with all of the accessories.Customer Review: 3rd Hand rules!

I can't say enough about this tool! I'm a finish carpenter and usually work by myself, except when I have crown moulding to install. The four Fastcap poles will easily take the place of two people, and do a better job.
There is a small learning curve, but I got the hang of how to use them in no time. Despite what I read in other reviews, I have NO problem fitting all four poles and all the ends in the bag. Ideally the bag could be a little longer, but if you remove the foot/head pieces everything fits fine.
I've only used the poles a few times, so I can't speak on their longevity, but so far I'm very impressed w/ their performance.

I have used the 3rd Hand product and LOVE the results. It's great for crown molding and for putting up dust catching plastic walls. The feet have little teeth on the underside of them that you can attach the plastic to and it holds great. I did receive one of my 3rd Hands missing a little articulating foot, however I called FastCap direct & their customer service was awesome! They totally took care of me and sent me out replacements at no cost the same day & they didn't even charge for shipping. I think this product & the company who makes them are great! I don't know what Dave was talking about...my conclusion is that he must work for a competitor.
