Tools and Hardware Reviews of Feit Electric 8 LED Nightlights

Customer Review: Cost effective, but the theatre lights don't turn off.
Summary: 3 Stars

Firt of all, I got this bulk pack elsewhere for way less, so shop around.

Second, the theatre lights, which are the really cool looking ones that aren't too harsh to look at, never turn off in response to the overhead lights being turned on. The only way I can get those to turn off is to shine a flashlight right into the light sensor.

Third, the other design switches on a off perfectly, but the light is very cold and harsh to look at. Whatever a candle is, think the opposite and you'll get the idea of what these look like. However, if you like the ambience of a starship running on emergency power, you'll love these.

Still, the price is right, and they do allow me to turn off some much more power hungry lights at night without stumbling around the house.

Oh yeah, about the theatre lights again: these are just tall enough so that if I plug them directly into my wall outlet in the top plug, they render the bottom useless, and if I plug them into the bottom plug, they make it impossible to plug a three-prong plug into the top plug.

So, you get what you pay for. If you want bang per buck, this is your ticket. If you want warm and cozy, look elsewhere.

Customer Review: Brighter models are better
Summary: 4 Stars

Six of these nightlights are the NL/1 model, which uses 0.3 watts, and two are the NL/6 ("theater light") model, which uses 0.6 watts. For comparison, I also bought an NL/5 modelFeit Electric NL5/LED Rotating Night Light with Sensor, which is similar to the NL/1 but uses 0.6 watts and has a rotating shield to block the light in one direction. All the models have good light sensors to automatically turn off during the day. I've only had them a few days and can't judge durability, though the NL/5 has a lifetime replacement guarantee.

My lights are used in rooms without windows, so they are on 24 hours per day (except when I turn on the regular room light). For this usage a nightlight without any light sensor might last longer, as do regular light bulbs that are left on all the time.

I much prefer the 0.6-watt models over the NL/1. They are twice as bright, well worth the extra 50 cents per year in electricity. Their shields are also useful, as the the LED's are a little too bright to look at comfortably.

Customer Review: The ad copy "Save $312/year" is WRONG
Summary: 3 Stars

These work fine. They are not as bright as a 4 watt standard nightlight, but for most applications they are just right.

However, the ad copy says: "These LED Nightlights will save you $312 in energy cost per pack per year. (As compared to using standard 7 watt incandescent nightlights at 12 cents per kWh.)"

I think they made a mistake (or lied). Let's say that these LED lights use no power at all, and that you replace 8 7-watt nightlights.

If those 8 7-watt lights are on 24/7, then in one day they would consume

8 * 7 watts * 24 hours = 1,344 watthours of electricity in one day.
1,344 watthours / 1,000 watthours/kWh = 1.3 kwh per day.
1.3 kWh * 365 = 490.5 kWh/year.
490.5 kWh/year * $.12 /kWh = $58.87 per year

That is the maximum you could save. If you are replacing four night lights that use 4 watts each, your annual savings will be about $17.

, then in one year they will cost 8 * 7 watts * 24 hours/day * 365 days/year / 1000 watts/kw * .12 $/kwh = $59.

Customer Review: WOW! What a Great Deal
Summary: 5 Stars

I can not believe what a great deal this is. If anything the lites are more bright then I expected, but they may dim down after they are broken in. The on off switch works perfect on them. It only cost 27 cents a year to run them? I think I can afford that. I love to walk around the house at night but I do not like to turn the lights on. So I have these lights in every socket I can find to put a night light in. In fact my wife use to have to leave the kitchen light on when she went to work in the morning and now she can turn it off without having to double back. This is as good of a deal as your ever going to get. Now all they need to do is add a battery and a solar charger for the perfect light. But at 27 cents a year they are already as inexpensive as they are going to get. Esp as long lasting as they are it will be a long time before I will have to change them out.

Customer Review: fantastic products
Summary: 5 Stars

i first ordered these February 16, 2010 so nearly a year and am completely happy with them the theater lights stay on most of the time depending on the light coming in my bedroom they are a cold blue color i think they help see at night its not a brilliant bright light for me and my needs there perfect i have to get up and take the dog out at 1-3-7 am and they work perfect i just ordered 2 more packs to hopefully use in my shed i think if they had put a small glass piece instead of the plastic on the theater lights they might not do what they do the fix mentioned did not work for me it looks to me like sloppy work putting them together and mine has glue over the plastic window but for the Good they do and the little power its leaching I'm content with them enough to buy more so each there own.
