Tools and Hardware Reviews of 2x4basics 14429 Workbench and Shelving Storage System with Hooks and ClampsCustomer Review: Great Product Summary: 5 Stars
Finley's 2X4 Basics Workbench is the real deal! I built a 8 foot long, 3 foot deep bench in 45 minites and it was a pleasure to build. I'd like a little verbiage in the instructions but that's just a personal preference. The product is sturdy, yet light weight. It is easily assembled with hand tools but a drill driver makes the job much faster. I bought previous kits with 16 inch shelf brackets and loved them. I hate moving but it is comfrting to know that when I have to move next I can simply disassemble my awesome work bench with clamps and hooks and reassemble it in under an hour at my next home.
Customer Review: Thanks Finley!!! Summary: 5 Stars
After reading reviews on this bench, I purchased the Finley for $49.99.( after the thousands I've already spent in converting my garage into a workshop, what's another $50.) Well to my surprise, this bench turned out to be perfect for me. Great structural supports (yeah, yeah I know it's "plastic")and alot of little extras included.(vises, holders etc) all add up to a great idea!! Anyone who thinks this includes the wood should check between their ears for solid material!!
Thanks Finley and Amazon reviewers, who I depended on getting my 1st rate workshop going at a reasonable price!!
Customer Review: Great product Summary: 5 Stars
I built my 2' x 6' bench using this kit back in April 2005 and I am very pleased with how well it has held up. This is a cheap alternative to commercially built benches and is a must buy in my opinion. I like this kit so much that I am contemplating buying another one to make a potting bench since those can be quite pricey as well.
Two benefits that helped me alot:
1) Any Size - Due to space considerations in my garage I was limited to a bench 2' deep.
2) Since you get to stain it yourself, you can make it perfectly match the decor of your workshop.
Customer Review: Good Bench Summary: 5 Stars
I am really pleased with the bench. It is solid as a rock. I thought the instructions were actually pretty simple to understand. I made mine 8'x3'. That way I didn't have to cut the long 2x4's to length. The plastic legs will flex a little to make up for slight twisting and warping in the boards. I had no problem with the screws and I didn't predrill anything. No problems. It is nice when somethign actually works as advertised. It took about an hour to build and cost me about $110 for the kit and the lumber. And anyone who was angry becasue it didn't come with lumber is an idiot.
Customer Review: Mediocre...at best Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this system about a month ago and ended up building it a couple of weekends ago.
There are a couple of areas I was disappointed in.
1) The screws that come with the kit are woefully inadequate. I ended up replacing all of the screws with 1 1/2" and 2" wood screws and it made it far more stable.
2) I would recommend that you nail the shelves in the workbench down with a pneumatic nailer or stapler if you have one.
I ended up securing the shelving unit to the wall, that really improved the stability.
