Tools and Hardware Reviews of 2x4basics 14429 Workbench and Shelving Storage System with Hooks and ClampsCustomer Review: Sturdy & Fun to Build Summary: 5 Stars
Unit went together in a matter of minutes. I built mine 32"x48" to get maximum use out of a single 96"x48" sheet of 5/8" heavy duty sanded plywood. Excellent size, heavy & sturdy like a rock. For my build all I needed was 1 sheet of 5/8 plywood @ $22 and 5 2x4x8' studs @ $1.88 each. Very economical way to build a permanent work structure.
It comes with a shelf unit which I built seperatley to 6h' x 4w' with 10 2x4x8' studs @ 1.88 each. Excellent value.
Customer Review: Great way to make a solid, custom-sized work table Summary: 4 Stars
This is a great product for making your own custom sized work table. Assembly took me about 2 hours total, including cutting the 2x4s. I spent about $100 total on wood, between the 2x4s and three sheets of plywood (two sheets of sanded pine for the bottom and middle, and one nice sheet of sanded birch for the top).
A nice feature of this product is the inclusion of the six shelf bracket pieces, which are the same as the kit sold standalone on Amazon.
Customer Review: Workbench review Summary: 4 Stars
The workbench legs themselves are well built and assembly was very quick. One downside was that the shelf heights are fixed. The 16" wide shelf components included in the package aren't something I wanted, but I'm sure I can give them away. Finally, the text-free instructions could have been a bit clearer; floor-shelf heights, for example could have been shown. However, overall the legs were a great product and I expect to buy another set for a second workbench.
Customer Review: good bench, but may be missing parts Summary: 4 Stars
I got this bench quickly in an intact carton, assembled it as directed without diffaculty but found it is missing the gray clamps and the hooks described and illustrated in the instructions and online pics.
It seems sturdy enough for my needs, and I was able to cut the pieces in my garage and transport them thru a narrow doorway into a cellar shop space for assembly.
Made mine 4ft long and 30in deep, and the shelf unit 5ft by 4 ft.
Customer Review: A great idea, and a great buy Summary: 5 Stars
I spent over three months and countless hours online researching workbenches. I spent a week looking at the 2x4 basic workbench. It is fantastic. I was able to build a better workbench than the one I had finally settled on at less than 1/3 the price! I was able to use four of the six free shelf brackets to make a miter saw station for my compound miter saw and plan to buy another six pack of these. In short, This is a great idea and an even better bargain.
