Used this kit with 3/4" treated plywood to build the ultimate reloading bench. This couldn't be simpler -- the instructions are clear, all you have to do is cut straight lines with whatever you decide to use for lumber. That is it. I used a double layer on the top of the bench to provide a more secure mount for my reloading tools. It is VERY sturdy -- when using my press, I get no movement whatsoever. The uprights for the overhead shelf are great as well; used them to screw in a shop light in the top.
This information might be helpful: plan on spending another 100.00 - 150.00 for lumber and hardware. I purchased quality plywood, pegboard, and a shop light, but I also received a contractor's discount. You might have as much as 200.00 in lumber if you go to a big-box store to purchase it.

This product works great! It is easy to assemble, no complicated cuts or instructions. You simply buy the lumber you want and cut it to the size you want. This is the best part of this kit. You know it's going to fit because you measured it! You picked the wood too. The product is not misrepresented here at all; it states in the name that this is a "KIT". It also says many times in the details "lumber not included" or you buy the lumber and cut to fit. If your looking for a work bench to fit exactly where you want to use it, then look no further. The bench is very sturdy too, I have had no problems with the screws included with the kit. I store some pretty heavy stuff on the unit and the boards do not even bow a little, and I actually used longer lengths than the they said in the instructions.Customer Review: Great DIY product

I needed a workbench for my workshop and discovered this product. It is perfectly designed for making a workbench of any dimensions necessary rather than other products which are made for a specifc size. The instructions are poorly written and a bit confusing to follow but studying them carefully before beginning should allow anyone to use them. Everything is included, including the screws for assembly, right out of the box. I managed to build it in one afternoon by myself, requiring assistance at only one point when I had to lift the assembly from its side on to its feet. The end product is extremely sturdy, provide plenty of shelf storage, and makes a great work surface. I purchased this kit from Amazon and had the entire workbench built in a few hours. Yes, you can build one entirely of lumber and hardware from your local home improvement center, but the 2X4 Basics system is like a LEGO system for adults! The legs are NOT plastic -- they are industrial resin and very rigid. Using only a variable speed jigsaw, I made the straight cuts necessary to construct this kit. The kit is VERY forgiving (my cuts were not perfectly straight by any means). I used six 2X4s (96 in long) and two flat plywood sheets (2' X 4' and 3/4" thick) as the lumber -- everything else is in the kit. Bottom Line -- this was a fun project to build and the result is an ideal workbench.Customer Review: Great workbench

I ordered 2 of these workbenches. 1 I made a workbench with shelves across the top. 1 I just made a a flat workbench that I can use for my miter saw, drill press, and scroll saw. I built both of them smaller for now, when I move and have more room I can just reuse them and add longer lumber to make them bigger. Assembly was extremely easy, had 2 assembled in about 2 hours. They are both very sturdy and have a lot of storage space on the shelves, and the shelves I put across the top of 1 of them are strong and hold quite a bit of stuff. I dont think you can go wrong with these, especially since you can custom size your work bench to wahtever size you need or whatever space you have available.
