The first time I saw a cord like this was many years ago in a pet rabbit catalog. Rabbits can chew cords. I had forgotten all about it until recently, after sending a relative off to purchase an extension cord for a portable heater, that could handle 1875 watts. She came back with this instead. It's even better than an extension cord. It can handle 1875 watts, and it turns off the appliance if there is damage or overheating of the cord.
