Tools and Hardware Reviews of First Alert 2072F Anti-Theft Safe with Digital Lock, 1.00 Cubic Foot, GrayCustomer Review: saftey dance Summary: 4 Stars
This safe isnt going to stop James Bond from getting to your plans for world domination but if properly mounted to a cabinet or shelf it's plenty sturdy enough to foil a grab-and-dash thug or keep your handguns out of the hands of children. If quick access is a concern (one never knows when evil ninjas will attack) the override key is a snap. Otherwise the code and entry key is quick and straight forward.
One cubic foot is roomy enough to secure Grandma's priceless tea set while you are on vacation and the removeable shelf is very handy.
If you dabble in diamonds this isnt the safe for you but if you want 500 dollars worth of peace of mind for 100 bucks, you got it.
Customer Review: too good to be true Summary: 3 Stars
I got this safe because I need to have some cash handy and I travel a lot so I can leave my valuable in there. This safe is not what I expected to be , first of all it is not American made HONEYWELL. It is a cheap chinese made only stole the name honeywell to fool customers like me. Another problem I had was the battery conpartment came apart during shipping and I had to solder the wires. It is good to mount on the floor or on the cabinet , I am sure it can be opened easily but it is a deterrent so a thief who has 10-15 minutes would not bother with it. It is a good price for $78 with shipping.I believe shipping would $25. so I pay $53 for it basically. I use it see what happens
Customer Review: Does the job very well; two items to consider if you purchase: Summary: 4 Stars
This safe works very well. I highly recommend this product given its size, quality and especially low cost. Here are the two attention points:
1. The safe includes two types of keys. A master key that allows you to unlock the safe even without knowing the keypad code. Sure, this represents a security issue, however, simply put: hide this key! Security issue resolved.
2. If placed on wood floors it will probably scratch them. I recommend you purchase felt or rubber bottom stick-its (the same ones for the legs of your furniture). This will solve the problem of scratching your floors.
Aside from that, I highly recommend this product.
Customer Review: Honeywell safe Summary: 4 Stars
This item is a great value for the money. It is not fire resistant, but is not supposed to be. It is used as a gun safe, and fits the bill better than many gun specific safes. It has plenty of room, and a solid feel. The only thing I don't really like is the key system. I'd rather have a digital only lock, like the hotel safe we used on holiday. The code was whatever you chose at the time, so it could be changed daily, if desired. With this safe, you have to use both the digital keypad, and a key. Also, you have to hide (and remember where), a master key.
I would highly recomend this item.
Customer Review: Kills Batteries - Keypad is a waste Summary: 2 Stars
I didn't expect much for the price I paid, so I wasn't disappointed in the quality, but I can't use the keypad. The little light that comes on when you open the door, doesn't go off. It will kill the copper top batteries in a day, so the next day, the keypad is dead. I have to keep the key handy as it is the only way to get in. If it wasn't for this, Id be somewhat content. If you're looking for something to deter your children from getting into your valuables, this will work, but it really just keeps the honest people honest. Serves it's purpose.
