So far, this product hasn't worked, but that's a good thing! When you purchase a smoke detector it is with the hope that you never HAVE to hear it. This one was easy to install and seems to be fully operational. It is great to sleep at night with one less thing to worry about. Bought to replace an ionization type detector that was way too sensitive - kept going off when you opened the oven door or added wood to our fireplace. This new photoelctric type eliminated the false alarms. So far, so good. Moved the ionization detector to our basement, where it has done well.Customer Review: Perfect - no false alarms from cooking

Our old smoke detectors used to go off every time we broil a steak - which can make the house a bit smoky. These don't false when cooking. We have two. There is a mute button. These smoke detectors do not use radioactive materials and they were an easy install and replacement for the radioactive smoke detectors in my bedrooms. 3 of these failed between year 1 and year 2. As someone said how fun it is when the unit alarms for no reason in the middle of the night. Kitchen unit goes off when kitchen is warm . Will never buy this brand again.
