Good price for this product.
It replaces an older unit from a different company that had died and refused to stop beeping regardless of the battery that was put in it.
I assume that if I do not die in my sleep from smoke inhalation or carbon monoxide poisoning, the unit works as it should.
If I do die in my sleep because it failed, I'll figure out how to update this review from the great beyond. Wish me luck!

I thought maybe a bought a dud but after reading previous reviews, I had the same issues. Within a month mine started beeping to replace the alarm. I foolishly thought this couldn't be and replaced the batteries. Within a couple days it was beeping again. I paid over 30 bucks for this and now I'm here again shopping for another alarm. Stinks to have to shell out all that money again. I'm getting a different brand this time around. Oh well....Customer Review: junk

I bought two of these last year. Within a few months, we started getting false alarms. Three chirps in a row. Sometimes they would stop on their own. Other times, I would have to take them down, take out the batteries, and hang it up again later.
Each time, I tested the batteries. Each time, they were fine. I ever replaced the batteries a couple of times, just to be sure.
Don't buy these. They'll drive you to drink.

Affordable, easy to install, uses common batteries. Seems to work but hopefully it'll never have a reason to go off. This is a photo smoke sensor, not an ionizing fire sensor. Wasn't clear to me in description. This isn't necessarily good or bad though.
Died after a year and a half (new batteries didn't fix it), it just kept beeping indicating an internal problem. Weak Sauce!
Customer Review: Junk, Keeps going off when hall light is turned on

I have had it with the junk that First Alert produces and I have replaced all my First Alert detectors with Kiddie detectors. This thing goes into test mode when the stairwell light is turned on, this has happened at least 2 dozen times.
I will be sending all of them back to the company with a note about the poor products they produce.
Don't waste your money on this product, you will not be happy.
