Tools and Hardware Reviews of Fluke 1AC-A1-II Volt-Alert AC Non-Contact Voltage TesterCustomer Review: Perfect within it's design parameters Summary: 5 Stars
Perfect tool within it's design parameters (i.e. quick, none contact indication of the presence of HVAC (90Vac-1000Vac); it does NOT indicate D.C. voltage, it does NOT indicate the actual value of the A.C. voltage, it does NOT give an indication for metal-shielded cables - BUT, it may save your life, or prevent a nasty shock. I was sufficiently impressed with it that I bought a second one for my daughter - in the hope that it may prevent her having a nasty accident (she has the propensity for playing with things which she doesn't completely understand including HVAC).
NOTE: if you require an instrument with indications for lower A.C. voltages the Greenlee GT-16 (5Vac-1000Vac) would be a better choice.
Customer Review: Great Product, Does what is says it does. Summary: 5 Stars
Since I work for a company that uses Fluke Network Equipment, I immediately figure this product will do exactly what I want it to do but, be more expensive then other products. I was wrong, the price was good and worth it, I purchased a different product (later returned to buy this one) and it worked but, not as good as this one. Even though this is a non-contact tester, you still need to touch a wire to tell it's hot but, it tells you which is the hot wire compared to other testers that just go crazy when you get close to something hot. This is helpful in home improvement tasks with old wiring.
Great Product, will recommend to others.
Thanks
Customer Review: Very good Summary: 5 Stars
Believe all of these positive reviews. I've always used the Greenlee "tickers", but I got such a good deal ($1.50 before shipping!!) there is no way I would pass it up and I use these everyday. High quality. very sensitive. The only MINOR issue I have with this is the low volume. That's just me, others may prefer the quieter type. Sometimes I use it to shut a circuit off quickly and I like to be able to hear it if I am far away and don't have anyone around to tell me I found the right breaker. Let it be known, these aren't fool proof. They're a quick way to determine the presence of voltage. If you're not positive, be safe and at least use a meter.
Customer Review: The Standard- an electrician's choice Summary: 5 Stars
This "proximity" tester scores 5 stars for:
ease of use-5
very simply, hold the button for 1 second to turn on or off. If you forget to turn it off, it automatically powers down after about 1 minute.
durability-5
keep it in your pocket, drop it, toss it in your tool pouch. It's pretty hard to break accidentally
reliability-5
Fluke makes excellent testing equipment and this tester is no different. You don't get a lot of false readings from other 'hot' wires in the same box.
All in all, a more solidly, reliable, well built non-contact tester that gives you more accurate readings than other brands.
Customer Review: Essential toolbox item Summary: 4 Stars
This (or any non-contact voltage tester) is a must-have for anyone who has to work with, or near wiring. The audible signal makes this an ideal tool for finding the circuit breaker to an outlet in another room. Simple and safe to use. Periodic flashing when "on" is a very convenient feature that makes it almost second nature to use when you've got other things on your mind than "did I leave this on or off"? This little item has already "saved my bacon" a few times... well, maybe "saved my sanity" is more accurate, it can really take out a lot of confusion when dealing with several circuits and you don't remember which ones are live.
