Tools and Hardware Reviews of Fluke 233 Remote Display MultimeterCustomer Review: FLUKE #233DMM Wireless Summary: 5 Stars
I just purchased this DMM a few days ago. The wireless function is a lifesaver. I have been employed by a bus (Touring Coach) dealership for the past 14 years, as a service technician (mostly electrical/electronic circuit troubleshooting and tracing.
I use my Fluke meters almost everyday. The 233 will serve as my primary DMM now.
I used it a couple of days ago to analyze a charging system on a customer's coach. I connected the 233 to the batteries to check alternator(s) output (the Van-Hool coach has two).
I removed the display and sat in the driver's seat, while the main unit was in the battery compartment, at the rear of the coach. (the bumper to bumper length is 45 feet) This allowed me to load the electrical system (by turning on the air-conditioning, interior and exterior lights video system etc.) and observe the alternators voltage outputs, while at idle and fast-idle. This saved me from having to walk back to the battery compartment to observe the readout multiple times.
I also used it to dynamically observe voltage output and "CAN Backbone" resistance on the multiplex system of a different customer's coach, while the coach was being driven. This customer had problems with multiplex "node" communication.
With the addition of the temperature functionality, the 233 could replace my 83-III and my 52-II (dual temp. input) meters.
With digital drive-line CAN, multiplexed CAN, digital-microprocessor controlled engine, transmission and ABS "Drive-By-Wire , Shift-by-Wire and Brake-by-Wire" systems, I have many opportunities to use my new Fluke 233. In any event I will NOT retire my Fluke 83II and 52II, they have served me well.
Thanks for listening... Wardell
