This is a great little tool. I've used it to find the optimum settings on pellet stoves and kerosene heaters, check chimney temperatures, and also to track down cold spots in the house. It has also used with decent results for brewing beer :). The temperature accuracy seems to be around +/- ~2F when compared with mercury thermometers. It's big enough that it is hard to loose. The 9V battery is a good idea because it's a common size, and lasts a long time. The case is rugged enough, but it would be better if it were waterproof. The laser pointer is a great feature, but it's not always needed so it would be nice to be able to turn it off.Customer Review: Remote a temp.

This is a REAL man toy. I have these at work and played with them there. We always have to pass it around for a bit of fun. Had to have one at home for computer, house leaks, fore heads, engine temps, fireplace, and dog butts. Seems to target well at about 10 feet, further than I expected. Just about instant reading and remembers highest seen. Has trouble going through glass, DUH!. Verified temps with house temp sensors, always within a half degree. As a toy its great, as a tool it's a hundred times easier than a probe, no waiting, no juggling meters. The only problem is at a work place it has legs. Customer Review: Great product mini size

PRoduct does what is advertised. I have been using it for about a month. To get an accurate reading you do have to be within about a foot of the object, the farther back you are the less accurate the reading. It beats using thermometers and having to wait several mintues for a reading.Customer Review: temperature range mistated

I bought this product for 35$ more than the other options at amazon because the product description carried a range of temperatures of -40 to 700F. This is a mistake. The range on the packaging states clearly -30 to 500F. I guess I can make due but I would have bought the more inexpensive option had I known. Argg!!
