This meter has so many uses around the house, I wonder how I got by without one! Besides cooking, checking for hot and cold spots near windows, on floors and in ceilings, it is great for checking decks for possible icing conditions (which might have prevented a broken leg a couple of years ago). Very satisfied with this product. Good performance, good name (Fluke), easy to use, and appears to be accurate over a wide range of tempertures. Good to monitor temperatures while cooking (oven & stove), hobbies (making wine), and to verify outside temperatures with items using remote divices to monitor outside temperatures.Customer Review: How Hot is it?

I was very pleased with this product,it is small with a large dipsplay and has a lazer to aid in aiming along with a backlit display.
It works great for a infared Thermometer,compact and lots of fun checking
out temps of things. It comes with a soft case also.
I am very pleased and worth the extra money.

At an affordable price, this Fluke ir thermometer does everything we need it to do including accurate water temperature readings coming into and out of our cooling tower. We check motor bearing temps, breaker temps in overloaded electrical panels and even air temps in our rented spaces. It's compact and easy to operate.Customer Review: temperature range mistated

I bought this product for 35$ more than the other options at amazon because the product description carried a range of temperatures of -40 to 700F. This is a mistake. The range on the packaging states clearly -30 to 500F. I guess I can make due but I would have bought the more inexpensive option had I known. Argg!!
