Tools and Hardware Reviews of Freud LU84M011 10-Inch 50 Tooth ATB Combination Saw Blade with 5/8-Inch ArborCustomer Review: This blade will self distruct in 5 seconds Summary: 1 StarsI own two of these blades. The first one was purchased almost two years ago and it's still going strong. The second one I got last month from amazon and only paid $40 for it. After very little use (1 to 2 minutes), I noticed that several teeth were chipped. I know I hadn't hit any metal, so I assumed the blade came like that. I returned it and Amazon promtly sent a new one. I inspected every tooth on the new one and all was well. I installed it on my table saw and proceded to cut some 3/4 plywood. I managed to make it about 2 inches into the plywood before I started hearing snaping noises coming from the inside of the saw. After about 4 inches, sparks started to fly. This all happened in a matter of 2 seconds. I immediately stopped the saw to inspect the problem. Several teeth were missing from the blade and tons of teeth were chipped. I disected the plywood and found no metal or anything else in it. My guess is the carbide was too brittle or the brazing was substandard. Regardless, Amazon refunded my money and I returned the second blade. It seems to me that amazon got a bad batch of these blades, but it's unclear to me if they are going to do anything about it. Buyer beware!!!
Customer Review: Forrest or Freud Summary: 5 StarsI was searching Amazon's prices on Freud products when I noticed the reviews for this blade. Don't think of yourself as settling for Freud's blades because Forrest cost too much. The carbides will stand up to "mild" abuse on a Freud, but with a Forrest expect to pay $ when the unexpected happens. The $ is my local cost for a replacement carbide & service. This review goes for all full kerf blades, thin kerf is for under the coffee cup!
Customer Review: Great saw blade Summary: 5 StarsDoes averything I hoped it would do , very stable have cut plywood, oak ply, pine solid oak works great with all.
Customer Review: awesome product Summary: 5 StarsI haven't used it for crosscutting yet, but when ripping, you can't tell that the edge wasn't ran over a jointer. In fact, sometimes it's even better.
Customer Review: Excellent combo blade! Summary: 5 StarsI've been using the chrome version of this blade on my old (ancient) Jet contractor's saw for about 3 years and couldn't be happier. It leaves a super-smooth, glue-ready surface when ripping soft- or hardwood stock, and equally fine surfaces on crosscuts. My saw is tuned properly, I use a link belt to reduce vibration, and for ripping always use a featherboard just in front of the blade to maintain proper position of the stock.
I showed this blade off at a recent woodworker's gathering of about 30 people, and they were definitely impressed. Can't imagine that it'd be possible to get a much better surface than the LU84 provides. On my humble 1.5HP saw, though, I don't use it for ripping really thick stock. Firmly believe a good 24-tooth ripping blade is the way to go there.
