Tools and Hardware Reviews of Frigidaire FAA065P7A 6,000 BTU MSII Air Conditioner with Electronic ControlsCustomer Review: Surprisingly quiet and works well Summary: 4 Stars
I did a whole lot of research cause my main concern was noise level as this was for my bedroom. Consumer Reports rates this one pretty high overall, so I gave it a shot. Couldnt be happier....so far so good, cools my 350 sq ft bedroom quite well and I have no problems sleeping with it on high and I live in nyc. So the others who are complaining about it being really loud either got a defective unit or have dog ears. The timer and auto settings are great and combined with a high energy saving rating my electric bills have been surprisingly low(relatively speaking that is). I have also had the 10000 btu version in the living room for over a year now and am very satisfied.
Customer Review: mine didn't cool at all Summary: 1 Stars
Mine didn't cool at all. I bought it in January. Had it installed in the hole in the wall. Then summer came. And the air it blew was not cool. You don't want to have to call Frigidaire. Don't ask. Eventually they'll maybe send me a refund check. But they said those units are unserviceable, so it doesn't look like I'm going to get a guy to come out and fix it. That means I have to have a guy come out and uninstall the old one and install the new one I'm going to have to go out and buy during a heat wave. Anyway, I hope I can find one that isn't a Frigidaire because its been a big hassle and now a big expense with no promise of any refund.
Customer Review: Very noisy, airflow direction is awful Summary: 1 Stars
I got two of these: one is 6,00 BTU, another is 8,00 BTU.
Both models have the same design flows.
1. Very noisy - even when the compressor is off. It is just airflow design which is very bad. Even on the lowest fan setting - which is not low at all. Huge sound of gushing air.
2. Air flow direction control is extremely poor. As some other reviewers mentioned, no matter how you turn the little plastic things, the unit blows the air in one direction.
Makes me think that Frigidaire engineering is faulty.
Customer Review: Completely serviceable air conditioner Summary: 4 Stars
The air conditioner is not a rock star, but for the price, it is quiet, and does what is promised.
I purchased it to cool my 180 ft room, and, in 95 degree weather, it took the edge off nicely, finally settling at 68 degrees.
The installation instructions are atrocious, but the general installation is very intuitive.
It's not whisper quiet, but it certainly isn't excessively noisy, it makes a hum similar to a fan, maybe a little louder.
I'm very happy with my purchase.
Customer Review: Saves electricity by not working Summary: 1 Stars
At first I was disappointed that this unit didn't work - right out of the box - but then I quickly saw an upside in that it wouldn't be eating up electricity. I could be saving $50 or so, I imagine, by sitting in a sweltering room with a non-functioning air conditioner that can't be serviced, according to Frigidaire.
If I really bite the bullet and opt for a working air conditioner I can look forward succumbing to heat exhaustion while boxing this baby up and sending it back to the retailer at my expense.
