Tools and Hardware Reviews of GB SE-94 10-gauge to 26-gauge Automatic Stripper and Crimper

Customer Review: Best stripper for Model Railroading et al
Summary: 5 Stars

I've tried a lot of automatic wire strippers over the years, everything from the cheap ones at the dollar store to complicated contraptions that have eight different holes to strip different gauges of wire. This one works better than any other one I've had. Will strip any wire I feed into it with one simple squeeze of the handle, no lining the wire up with the proper hole or repeated use until the blades finally grab the insulation. Works every time you squeeze it.

It is pretty comfortable in the hand and works really well one handed, which is good when you are reaching into tight spaces.

Model railroaders often need to strip a bit of insulation back in the middle of a long run of wire to attach smaller power feeder wires that run to the tracks. This can be very difficult to do and most strippers don't work well for that task. With this stripper you can place it anywhere along the wire and squeeze, and it will clear a 1/2" long section of insulation away for you - no need to follow up with a razor blade or hobby knife to clean away the unwanted insulation. A great time-saver.

I don't use the crimper or wire cutters - they work all right but I have other tools for that which do a better job. I won't hold that against this tool though, even as a unitasker it excels and make the other features unimportant.

Customer Review: How in the world did I ever get along without this tool?

I am no professional electrician, but I do all my own work on my car audio and also some basic electrical around the house (installing some lights, a garbage disposal, etc). For YEARS i have used the same electrical tool...ya know, the common one where in order to strip a wire, you pick the right gauge area, crimp the handles down tight, then try to hold the wire and keep it from twisting as you TWIRL the tool around, hopefully making an even cut around the insulation. THEN you have to hold the wire tight as you YANK against the little piece that you just cut which is SUPPOSED to pop right off (But rarely does). Finally, the stripped piece flies off with gusto (along with a few strands of your wire), making you bang your hand against the closest, hardest thing that you didn't know was there.

In comes the auto stripper and crimper. Insert wire (any gauge, any type) into the jaws. Squeeze handles (easy one-hand operation). Admire perfectly stripped wire with NO work at all! (and no nicked conductors!)

This thing is amazing. I haven't had an electrical job to do lately so just for giggles I was cutting and stripping, cutting and stripping a piece of scrap wire just because the process is now so magical. Seriously.

Customer Review: 3 weeks and they already dont work
Summary: 1 Stars

I do car electronics for a living and I had a different set of these i had bought at home depot which i loved, but unfortunatly i losed them!! So i decided to try to buy a new pair and for some reason home depot or lowes no longer sells them. When i found them on here i was happy, I purchased them. They were shipped to me very quikly which is always nice. I used them for about 3 weeks and the worked fine. One day im workin i pick them up and go to strip a wire and i notice 1 of the clamps will not clamp the wire, and gets stuck open so evertime i go to strip a wire i have to click the clamp back into place. I finally figured out that one of the screws had fell out and i have no clue where it went so basiclly there useless till i can track do a screw that will fit them.

Customer Review: This stripper works best
Summary: 5 Stars

No automatic wire strippers work to our satisfaction because they choke on little bits of insulation, lose parts, and are hard on the hands, causing repetitive injury. Regardless, this GB stripper gets 5 stars because it works better than any other product we've tried in the past 4 years of daily use.

We also have compared the JT&T Products auto wire stripper #5020F. Unlike the JT&T device, the GB allows the bits of insulation to fall out the back. The JT&T adjustment knob and plastic stop eventually fall off. The GB rarely falls apart.

Don't pay attention to any of the cutting/crimping features on the GB's handle. They are gimmicks.

Enjoy!

Customer Review: Impressed & would recommend this extremely useful tool
Summary: 5 Stars

In general, tools fall into three categories for me: 1. Great tool that does what it's supposed to and does it well. 2. So so kind of tool and does a pretty good job....should have bought the better brand. 3. What a piece of 3rd world garbage. This tool definitely falls into the #1 category. I like the quality, ease of use (If you have a hard time using THIS tool, please do not use any tools and hire someone.), and the comfort of this tool. I have big hangs and this has good ergonomics. Hope this helps you in deciding to buy a great tool and a great price.
