Definately worth the money. I am a Home Inspector and I have been using this unit for over a year with no complaints. The unit has both audio and visual indicators, a plus. It self tests each time you activate it, a plus. It is durable, a definate plus, I can't begin to count the number of times I have dropped it and I have never had a problem. I am buying a 2nd one because I don't ever want to be on an inspection without it and sooner or later I will lose it in an attic or crawlspace.Customer Review: Too sensitive to be any use.

This product is too sensitive to be of any use - it will go off if there is any AC in a 3ft radius. This means if you're trying to verify whether a wire is live and there is any other AC source nearby, you will be out of luck. I've used the previous iteration of the Fluke non-contact AC tester (Fluke 1AC-A1-II Volt-Alert AC Non-Contact Voltage Tester), and it was far superior.Customer Review: Gardner-Bender GVD-504A non-contact circuit tester

With this handy tool, I was able to determine that a light bulb in a recently purchased lamp was faulty and not the lamp switch. The light would repeatedly go out. When I touched the 3-way switch, the light would go on. I placed the tool near the switch, not even touching it and determined that the switch was getting a continued flow of electricty, even when the light bulb would go out. These testers are the bane of electricians every. Some don't always work others are hypersensitive. This one is perfect; detects voltage in every application, but it can tell hot from neutral. If I put it in the hot, it lights and in the neutral it doesn't. This is probably the 8th such tool I've owned and the first to not light up in the neutral. This non-contact tester is well worth buying, especially if you do any home rewiring or otherwise poking around inside walls containing wiring. It will detect active current in lines, sometimes from 2 or 3 inches away. No more guessing if you turned off the right circut. This tool lets you check and know for sure whether or not a wire is hot. Thanks, Amazon!
