Tools and Hardware Reviews of GE 48688 60-Watt A19 Reveal Bulbs, 4-PackCustomer Review: the light bulb over head Summary: 5 Stars
I've spent years working & living with fluorescent & regular bulbs & have been happiest & more relaxed under these bulbs! I can't afford the true full spectrum bulbs (which are paradise for the eyes & brain!) so I tried these "Reveal" bulbs. What a difference it has made to me! The eye strain I used to feel is gone, the dull head feeling is gone; the colors stand out much more brightly & so make me even feel happier. I now use only "Reveal" bulbs in my home. Not everyone will notice a difference as not everyone is affected by color & light the same ways. If you ARE feeling eye strain, that 'dull' feeling in the head or even the winter blues from lack of sunlight, these may help! Light & color affect our moods & feelings of wellness, so , buy a pack on sale, give them a try. I hope they work for you as they have for me!
Customer Review: They work as advertised Summary: 5 Stars
These bulbs do exactly what they are meant to do. On my ceiling fan/light, I have 2 ordinary soft whites and two Reveals. The difference is clear. The soft whites give everything an obvious yellow tint. The Reveal bulbs do not. More colors come out. My eyes are more relaxed.
I often spend hours at my home computer, so anything that reduces eye strain is welcomed. One issue that the previous rater mentioned is true - their light is somewhat dimmer than of the soft white bulb of same wattage. It does not feel different enough to require a 60W instead of 40W, or to require a 75W instead of 60W. I'm fine with the same Wattage as before.
btw, I previously used a similar bulb from Philips. It may have been called "Natural Spectrum". It performed in the same way.
Customer Review: Lots of Hype, Little Difference Summary: 3 Stars
According to the sales propoganda, regular light bulbs are yellow-ish and casts a pall in your room. This guy has neodynium in the glass, and therefore has a slight bluish tinge. In my home, there was virtually no difference between this 'natural' bulb and a standard, cheapie light bulb. We swapped out this light bulb with a regular one several times, yet the difference in color was slight. With this bulb, my living room still has a noticeable, but less intense, yellow tinge. To be fair, though, my walls are all off-white without a lot of color. I could not accurately judge this bulb's effect on color, but I know that some make-up mirrors and dressing mirrors use this type of bulb for accurate color rendition (ordinary fluorescent lights changes the color of things).
Customer Review: Brings out the colors of woodwork Summary: 5 Stars
My home has an extensive amount of red oak woodwork. These bulbs make the wood look substantially deeper and richer. I think that a lot of the mixed reviews here are due to the environment where they are used. I can imagine that the difference is not as noticeable if they are used in a room with white walls and beige carpet. However, when it comes to bringing out the deep, rich colors of woodwork (especially darker woods) these bulbs make a major difference in my home.
Enjoy them while you can still get them - I don't know if GE will have an equivalent product when the U.S. ban on incandescent bulbs begins to take effect in a few years and we are only allowed to buy Obama bulbs.
Customer Review: They are ok, but not enough to be worth switching out all the bulbs in my house. Summary: 4 Stars
These bulbs appear a little whiter more like a halogen bulb, or about 3000k. Looking at different colored objects under these bulbs vs standard bulbs, colors are slightly brighter looking. Otherwise I don't seem to have a color preference for lightbulbs as I don't really care about such a small difference. I do just fine with standard bulbs. I do find they are dim and needed to get 75w to use in place of 60w. I got a pack at Wallyword for $2 just figured I'd try them out. I give them 4 stars just because they are lightbulbs and they make light as I expect, and I haven't had any early failures yet.
