Customer Review: Worked for less than a year

I chose this key safe when my elderly mother became bedridden, and her health aides needed access to her home. It worked for less than a year before it would not consistently unlock when the correct combination was pushed. Sometimes the combination had to be retried five or ten times before the box would open. This was unacceptable, so the key box was replaced with a rotary dial unit.
Other cons:
The buttons are small and pointed, and for some people it can be uncomfortable to unlock, especially when the combination needs to be re-entered over and over. While the buttons are firmly sprung, they are also mushy when depressed, with no tactile feedback.
The key clip inside the front cover is small, and after awhile someone got fed up with trying to unlock the door with the key held to the clip, and tore it off, making it hard to close the box with loose keys in it. I suspect that this isn't unique to this key box however.
The combination you set can be unlocked in any order, which means that there are only about 1000 possible combinations. If someone really wanted to crack the code, it wouldn't be too hard. In contrast, the combination to the rotary dial key boxes has to be done in order. Of course no system is perfect--there were always a few kids in high school that could crack a rotary Master Lock to break into a locker in just a few minutes. I suspect the rotary key boxes are no more secure than that.
