Customer Review: Bulbs not 60W equivalent
Summary: 1 Stars

These bulbs are not as bright as they claim. After switching to all CFLs I noticed right away that they were dim. This is compounded over time. My CFLs lost approximately 50% percent of their brightness in the first month. Before anyone questions this I should make you aware that this is the way fluorescent light bulb go out, they dim over time.

I have done research and found out the following:

1. Manufactures are overestimating the brightness of the bulbs.

2. Bulbs are approximately 50% dimmer then Incandescent equivalents.
EX: Incandescent 60W - 126 lux (126 lumen/square meter) CFL 12W ( 60W equivalent) - 77 lux (77 lumen/square meter) as measured by a light meter.

Don't get me wrong. I liked the idea of CFLs, longer life, lower electrical bills, and even though I am no tree hugger they are supposedly better for the environment.

But I now find myself buying more lamps to try to make the room bright enough to read. Does it really save energy if I replace one incandescent bulb with 10 CFLs?

Lets do the math.

1 x 60W bulb = 60W
10 x 13W CFL = 130W

Customer Review: The reality
Summary: 2 Stars

I'm giving up on these things...

As many others have noted, they only last a couple of years, not 5 years as stated. The problem is you can't turn these things on and off like you do a normal bulb. So if you put them in a bathroom for example where you do this several times though out the day, it shortens the life.

Also, if the bulbs put out a very yellow light and are not the same as a "60 watt" bulb. You can confirm this with any camera light meter. The "Daylight" bulb that is rated at 6500K is a nice white bulb, brightness is improved a bit as well... but they cost more.

If you have a location where you need to walk in at 9AM, turn the lights on, then turn them off at 9PM, and don't care about how yellow things look, then these may be just the ticket. But the reality is for home use, most bulbs are turned on and off several times a day and these bulbs can't handle it. Any minor energy savings is offset by cost of the bulb.

Only use these in lights that stay on for hours at a time.

Customer Review: Great Bulbs at a very good price! Much better than similar brands.
Summary: 5 Stars

Amazon, The Mail or whoever had a glitch that caused an issue where Dab Nutrition sent the GE Energy Smart 60 Compact Fluorescent 8-pack to me, however it was not delivered correctly. Owning these bulbs for years I can say they are VERY HIGH QUALITY with a LONG life! The color spectrum is such that dark, dreary days seem like it is sunshine. I cannot fault DAB for a glitch and WILL use them again to get additional ones without hesitation! They went out of their way to make certain I was happy as they had NO control over an obvious glitch and a Mail/somewhere mess up. Use these bulbs as they are FAR superior to the Sylvania ones (and others) in color output and longevity! Dab Nutrition will do right by you as they did me and I do NOT state this lightly. If you are looking for a great quality bulb at a fair price, Dab is the place! I give them a 5-star rating for everything they did to correct an issue they had no control over. That is customer service I believe anyone would want!

Customer Review: Saving The Planet One Light At A Time
Summary: 4 Stars

With all the talks about saving energy on electricity bills today, and inflation on the rise, there are simple ways you can save money on your home services. One of them is buying these simple GE Energy Smart Light Bulbs. They are simple and easy to install, and last a whole lot longer than traditional light bulbs. On top of that, they shine just as boldly and brightly as the regular 60 Watt light bulbs. Although they do cost a little more in price as one, than the regular full 60 watts, but you also can save a lot of money in the long run, and they last 5x longer than a burn out you'd get very quickly from a regular light bulb. I absolutely recommend you buy these light bulbs, because they are worth the money. Hopefully, with all the talk of people trying to go green in savings, you can help save the planet, if we all use one energy saving light bulb at a time.

Customer Review: Energy saving and cheap to begin with, but my wife hates them
Summary: 4 Stars

These lights are a great alternative to traditional light bulbs and they don't give off that annoying buzzing sound like some of the energy smart bulbs I've tried in the past. We use these 60 watt equivalent bulbs for our lamps on end tables and other lights in the bedrooms. The one reason my wife hates these bulbs with a passion is when you turn on the light switch there is a slight delay in when the light actually turns on. I don't think this is a big deal, but for whatever reason it really bothers her. The slight delay is worth the savings on our energy bills.

They also sell these at the big warehouse stores like Costco and depending on the state you live in you can get them ridiculously cheap if they come with some sort of instant rebate.
