It had an easy set up. I like that the chime unit is battery operated...(3, C batteries needed). Also, the push button portions of this unit are battery operated..those are included. The optional, adhesive strips are quite strong and secure in attaching and holding the push buttons onto the doors, but screws are included, if you want to drill. I live in a cold climate and haven't had any problems with sticking buttons. For each press, the bell rings twice. Insistent pressing won't make it shrill nonstop, like my old bell. I like that feature. No over anxious person can "lean" on your doorbell, giving you a headache and pissing you off. It is rather loud, but so was my old bell. No volume control. I attached it to our metal security door and I don't get a tinny sound. They are many ring-tones to choose from, but some do sound a little silly to my ears. I use the standard ding dong and it sounds just fine.
It's necessary to make sure the unit is in the "on" position for it to work. The controls for changing ring tones are located inside the push button unit, right below the battery. A chart is included that tells how to access each desired ring tone. Very simple to change tones, but the controls for this are very tiny. The back cover on the push button unit fits very securely and tightly. The manufacturer doesn't recommend this item, if the doorbells will be exposed to direct rain. It's a lot cheaper than rewiring.
