Tools and Hardware Reviews of GE 50723 LED Motion Sensing Night Light

Customer Review: Wow - awesome!
Summary: 5 Stars

Absolutely awesome light - great motion sensing - especially from the front (12-15 feet); doesn't turn on unless very low light.
Bought 3 -- 2 with regular bulb (for softer light)in bedroom and master bath and 1 in kitchen that I put in a Crane LED bulb which is bright white. Love these so much am looking for places to put more!

Customer Review: Great Night Light
Summary: 5 Stars

I recently purchased two of these lights, one for the bathroom and one for the nursery, and they work great. The sensor detects your movement as soon as you walk into a room and puts out a soft, natural light. Having a newborn, these lights are great in that you can check on or feed the baby without turning on any other lights.

Customer Review: Good brightness but I found that I had to get about 3 feet away from it
Summary: 4 Stars

Good brightness but I had to get about 3 feet from it before it turned on. And if I was walking faster I was almost right on it before it came on. The light was mounted in a hallway.

Customer Review: Versatile, reliable, bright ... or dim, or red, or green, you choose
Summary: 5 Stars

We have had several of these lights in our home. The problem is, guests keep loving them, and we keep giving them away ... And, the two nearest megamarts don't carry them any more.

These require common household 110-120 VAC, and will only work if your building's power is on. The light uses standard 4 watt "Christmas" lamps. It comes with a clear white lamp. The one in my bathroom has had a clear, red, lamp installed in it, by me. Not exactly rocket science. Preserves night vision.

N.B.: The four new ones I just received have LEDs permanently mounted in them - no more replacing them with red or whatever. Might try dying the clear cover. They do seem brighter than the old 4 watt holiday lamps, and draw <0.5W, so they are more energy efficient than the incandescent ones.

They go out after about 1.5 min. If you are seated and motionless, wave at it, it will come back on.

I use several more of the same, all white, primarily along a hall or near a stairway, where I want to have light in the night without carrying a flashlight or flipping wall switches. The dog does set them off, but who cares.

If you want a power-failure lamp, this is NOT what you want. There are a number of 110 VAC self-charging, battery operated power failure lights available.

I've been looking for a combination motion + power failure night light, and just found one: The "Sentina LED-92M Smart Rechargeable LED Light for Emergency or Everyday" NOTE: I do NOT have one, HAVE NOT tried it. More expensive than this GE 50723, of course. Has more features, and has gotten good reviews. Check it out, too!

Customer Review: Where has this light been all of my life?
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the best night light I've purchased. I've wasted so much money over the years on cheap night lights that never light the path. I love the built-in motion sensor. It provides just enough light for just the right amount of time. I purchased 2 just to make sure I liked it and I will be purchasing more. They are great for the bathroom and staircase if you have an outlet there. I highly recommend this product.
