Tools and Hardware Reviews of GE 50723 LED Motion Sensing Night LightCustomer Review: Waste of money Summary: 1 Stars
I ordered two. One died immediately. It seemed to be a problem with the plug/wiring connection. The prongs are loose and don't seem to be making their connections internally. My gut feeling was that if I could get it to work it would probably pose a fire hazard due to the poor electrical connection. This one went into the trash. The other one at least worked when I plugged it in although it does come on by itself at night without any motion to trigger it. I bought these based on the good reviews and the fact it's a GE product. I feel like I wasted my money.
I ended up going to Home Depot and buying a motion sensing night light of a brand I did not recognize (nor can remember) and it's working great.
Customer Review: Great night light! Summary: 5 Stars
I use this night light in my bathroom and it is perfect - it's bright enough that I don't have to turn the light on after sundown unless I'm doing something that involves needing REALLY bright lighting like showering, painting my nails or doing my eyebrows. What's great is that it turns on with motion and when it's dark so it's not wasting energy when you're not in the room. It's attractive, lightweight and a great little light! I would recommend using in a bathroom, hallway, kitchen or bedroom at night - somewhere where you need light only when you're in that area. I would definitely recommend - it's great! I purchased a second one from Walmart because it was a few bucks cheaper!
Customer Review: Has a mind of it's own. Summary: 4 Stars
This thing sporadically turns on at night with no motion at all. As you can imagine, it's kinda creepy when that happens, even though I know it's a quality control issue as others have noted.
LED's cost so little to run that you should just buy one without motion detection if the light won't be seen from any sleeping areas. I bought this night light specifically for a place in the bedroom, so the motion detection problems make it too annoying to use.
Edit: I almost forgot to update the review. I gave it two more stars because Amazon exchanged the non-working light for one that is still working fine. Would be 5 stars if the problem hadn't happened.
Customer Review: Good night light, but has a very weak light sensor Summary: 3 Stars
Other reviews already say everything what is good about this Night Light. And I agree with that. But I was actually disappointed when I found out that the light keeps getting activated at day time. Apparently only very bright light satisfies this Night Light's light sensor so it does not activate. Otherwise, it keeps getting lit when it is light enough around. The light itself is not bright, and while it is just right for the night light it is definitely not bright to replace a normal source of light. At daytime that light is very annoying and is a waste. I have to unplug it every morning to avoid those unnecessary activations during day.
I would not buy it again.
Customer Review: Perfect Summary: 5 Stars
This nite light is perfect. I have no hesitation at all with this recommendation. If you are looking for a cheap nite light, this is not the one. However if you are looking for a motion sensor that works this is the one. I have 5 of them. My main application is on a stairway where I have a total of three. My home is two story. My wife and kids would always turn on the main lights when going up and down the stairs. Now as they are walking to the stairs, up the stairs and on the top of the stairs, the sensor catches them and turns on the lights. Stays on for a few minutes and goes out. Therefore not burning all night like some lights do. A good lite, no doubt
