These alarms work really well, are really loud and help me feel secure. I have bought cheaper versions and I would say it is definitely worth it to spend the extra money for the GE product. They are very easy to install with the sticky tape they come with. These will definitely scare someone off, maybe even alert the neighbors, and give you the time and warning you may need to take precautionary measures. They are also good to keep tabs if you have little ones. Unfortunately, the door one didn't work with my door frame as the distance was too far, but I bought the door stopper, which also rocks.Customer Review: Cheap Little Alarm System (CLAS)

For the price you pay, there's nothing wrong with this product. You get one door alarm, and three mini alarms that work great on windows. The door alarm needs a pass code, while the mini ones are manually set. Be careful how you set up the magnet for the alarm, because it has to be aligned with the arrow on that particular alarm. If it's not aligned, the alarm doesn't activate. You definitely don't want to set off the door alarm by accident, because it can cause serious ear damage. the ge home securty system is a basic model. but it both made me feel more secure as it will alert me to an intruder or hopefully scare one away. i did want more and today just purchased a cellular wireless system that will call for help while im away from home. again through amazon. all of my purchases and gifts ive gotten have been good deals and the shipping is excellent. love amazon. my daughter showed it to me and im a return customer. with the state of our economy crime is increasing as a result. protect yourself and your home.Customer Review: Decent product for the price

Nice product. Alarm is pretty loud for a 2-bedroom apartment. Not sure if the smaller window alarms would be heard in bigger houses. One thing that took me sometime to figure out was - for the bigger unit, you would have to activate the alarm every time it is moved from Chime to Alarm mode. We use the chime mode during the day and the alarm mode during the night and it took me a while to figure out that the alarm had to be activated every night and de-activated every morning. This would help if that wasnt obvious to you.Customer Review: does what it says

The window units as others have said are kind of lame since you can just close the window and the alarm goes off and there is an on/off switch for it!
The door unit works very well. I have a little trim around my door that puts a little gap between the magnet and the sensor and it still works. It's also very loud. Who knows whether this will actually stop someone breaking in but at the very least it'll startle him and even if he does take off with your plasma TV, his ears will be ringing for a while.
