This is the 3rd time I have replaced the filter in the 4* years that I have owned the fridge. Cost is cheaper here and service was excellent. The GE filter actually lasts about a year depending on usage. As long as the flow is good the filter is working. Just remove filter when light first appears, give it a quick shake and rinse in the sink, re-install and reset the light. If flow is still good use it until the light illuminates again. I have not tried the generic ones but have gotten good use from the branded ones at a much better price with free shipping from Amazon.Customer Review: good replacement, but not as good as Brita

I bought a house with a GE fridge that had the water dispenser and this filter, so I was excited to get rid of the space hogging Brita pitcher. The filter was obvioulsy clogged because the water just trickled out (I have no indicator lights). I bought this replacement and it popped in easily. Unfortunately, its not as good as the Brita filtered water. I dont know if I need to run a few gallons through it to get it going or what, but for now I will have to keep my pitcher. Good to have filtered water for the ice dispenser though and the price is the best out there.Customer Review: easy way to buy filter but...

This was an easy way to buy a filter for our new refrigerator -- our first filter purchase -- and I did find a place that offers many accessories for GE appliances while I was at it, BUT next time I will look locally first as the product was pricy and I believe in giving our local folks a chance, OR perhaps I'll buy a "generic" one and see if it lasts as long. The original, though supposed to last only six months lasted almost a year.Customer Review: Comparable price to Lowe's or other

Pretty much the same price you'll pay at Lowe's or other stores but you get the convenience of having them delivered. Can't beat it. The filters themselves seem to work well. GE says to replace them every 6 months but I wait until the light comes on to tell me to switch them out. I think I've replaced them twice in 3 years so I use them longer than 6 months which is good considering the price!Customer Review: I was sent merchandise I didn't order

I received the GE water filter I purchased, and water filters for another customer of Grady's. I attempted to contact Gradys' by email and phone; left messages in both cases but got no response.
I don't think I'll be ordering aything else from them if this is how they handle customer issues. I'm glad my order wasn't shipped to someone else.
